Very useful for me :)

Love it. I hate when bottle rolling on the seat or floor.

Enjoy

Hi all,

I’ve swapped message with Ray at ART in Australia, and am going to buy two of these cup holders. If others also want to join in and we can do a bulk order it would save on freight costs.

Text below is from Ray:

MC Victory adjustable cup holder kit A$79.00 (2 in stock)
Gransport adjustable cup holder kit A$89.00 (backorder 10 days approx)

I believe freight for a single kit to UK is approx A$25.00, let me confirm this tomorrow. If there is potential to freight a bulk order, there will obviously be a big saving in freight.

Each production run is small (20 sets) due to the different models, limited staff and production/assembly process. This is one of our well thought out and designed products, so if you do want one to place an order early. We do not have any photos or videos of either the MC Victory kit or the Gransport kit available (been meaning to get that done too) but will make that available shortly. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

From the pictures above, I think this looks like a great addition, and I’m happy to act as the coordinator if others want to get one of these as well.

Let me know, either on here, or via PM.

Hi,

I was thinking of a group buy. Would also love to have them by Le Mans, but don’t know how realistic that is. Also, in the email from Ray (full text below) he is unclear whether the Gransport one works for a 4200…

We created this style of cup holder for the "enthusiast" the "car guy", its function is to hold a standard can or travel cup or standard drink bottle in place without tipping or toppling, and if it spills, it is already on the floor, at the lowest most point in the car. It had to clear all mechanical seat controls and accommodate where possible the tallest to the shortest driver for that model of vehicle. It had to be lightweight and yet robust. Once installed, had to be easily removable (cup holder arm) without tools to gain maximum original clearance if necessary. Cup holder arm needed to be small enough to be stowed in vehicle glove box or map holder. It had to look period correct with the "modern classic" feel. The 1974 to 1989 Porsche 911/Carrera range was the start, which grew to include most of the Porsche range from 1965 to 1997. We have also included kits for Ferrari, Mercedes, Maserati and Alfa Romeo.

For the Maserati, our original plan was to create a kit that would serve the entire range starting from the 3200GT, 4200GT/Coupe and ending with the Gransport. We did not initially include the MC Victory as it was not a common model with only 175 cars built and it was unlikely we would have an inquiry . Upon comparing the mounting styles and overall dimensions of these seats, we learned that a common kit for the entire range was not likely. In the case of the 3200GT a different centre tunnel and floor structure due to the different transmission position. The MC Victory using a non-motorised light weight seat from the MC12 was again different to the 4200GT/Coupe and Gransport motorised memory/heated seats.

Starting the project with Gransport as a donor vehicle (belonging to one of our associates at work), we went through no less than 20 designs and just as many prototypes. What would have normally taken 1 or 2 weeks from start to finish ended up taking 4 times longer. In between all this, a local group of 5 MCV owners caught wind of our project and approached us to create a cup holder kit for them. As the seats in the MC Victory were mechanical, they were the thinnest and lightest and actually had the most clearance for a cup holder bracket to be fixed to either of the forward seat rail to floor mounting points. Presto! 5 MCV cup holder kits were made, ordered/sold that same
week.

Our adjustable cup holder kit for the Gransport and the MC Victory differ in the mounting bracket design and its fixing point. However, due to strength and clearance issues, the mounting brackets on both kits are precision cut steel and then powder coated to provide corrosion resistance (The ferrari 360/430 and Testarossa kits are similarly in steel). The cup holder arm is still our standard precision cut aluminium alloy and then powder coated.

Eventhough the 4200/Coupe and the Gransport were closest in seat design, the seat base had different dimensions and as such we have yet to confirm if they can in fact use the same Gransport cup holder kit.

Short answer:-
MC Victory adjustable cup holder kit A$79.00 (2 in stock)
Gransport adjustable cup holder kit A$89.00 (backorder 10 days approx)

I believe freight for a single kit to UK is approx A$25.00, let me confirm this tomorrow. If there is potential to freight a bulk order, there will obviously be a big saving in freight.

Sounds like they are missing the dims so they can finish the development for each seat variant

Hmm - not exactly a rush to participate, is there?

So far we have

  1. JonW - 2 Gransport cup holders
  2. Hashluck - 1 MCV cup holder

@FIFTY - do you want to take a Gransport one in the hope it will fit or could be modified?

Anyone else interested?

Isn’t it amazing what starting a list does!

I’ve just sent Ray an email asking for confirmation of lead times and to see if we can firm up what the freight costs would be. I’ve also asked whether there would be a deal to be done on a bulk purchase, and will obviously pass on any discounts to all.

For those unfamiliar with currency rates, A$89 is c.£48, so one of these would be less than a tank of fuel!…
