So, I have the regular black mesh and quite like the look of the chrome replacement. Car colour is Grigio Alfieri so a nice contrast to a chrome front end. After digging around on other sites it seems that the options are:

1) get the chrome grill that comes as part of the vintage pack
2) buy some chrome mesh and cut/fit into the existing grill surround
3) remove current grill and spray with chrome/silver paint
4) whole now GS front end with a chrome grill

Preferred option is 4 but too expensive.

Would be very interested to hear views on the spray paint option - would this be durable enough in day to day use? Is removal really easy so I could maybe try this out and if not happy could always try option 2and failing that option1!

cheers

Hi Adam. I was having my bumper re-sprayed a few weeks ago, so grill had to come out. I took the opportunity to take the grill apart and separate the mesh from the chrome surround. Then I applied a couple of layers of chrome spray from B&Q (£3.50) and put it all back together. Ok so it's not real chrome, but it looks absolutely fine and costs next to nothing. The results are good enough that I will re-spray the mesh chrome again when it chips and wears rather than going for one of the other options.

If you go on ebay and do a search for Jaguar mesh grill you find some. Make sure you go for the Jaguar mesh and not the cheap copies, for the sake of another £15 its just not worth it:

Take yours apart take out your old mesh and remove it from its frame then make an accurate template from it, then cut it out with a small angle grinder, snips will probably cause you to bend. You will need someone just to tack weld it to the frame, but its very easy.
