My battery has gone flat for the first time...
Anyway, apologies if this is all basic stuff, but ive never given these much thought with previous cars, ive just steamed in and done what the ****, but:

Are there any issues with jump starting the car?
Is my battery sealed or 'standard'? (I have a charger that has a switch for the 2 types)?
Can I charge the battery while still in the car. from a mains charger - NB I assume I flip the battery switch to off ?

Cheers

Flip tha battery switch off and charge it over night . If you don't use that car allot its probably what's caused it . If it goes flat again buy a new battery .

The charging circuitry is designed to work with 12v/100amp. Jumping should be fine as long as you don't exceed these numbers.

got one of these a couple of months back from halfords, bloody good bit of kit, it's small but packs a big punch even on the biggest of flat batteries and wont damage any electronics, will also charge any usb gadgets, not cheap but the best

Cheers. I dont know how to check these though.... Obviously ill be jumping off something with 12v. 100amp sounds quite small - jumping from my Mini should be fine?

I wouldn't use the mini. The risk is too much for my sensibilities.

Anyone know if I have a sealed battery or not?

sealed is exactly that "sealed".
If you have removable caps in the top and you can see the electrolyte when removed then you have a standard unsealed battery, my guess is you have a sealed battery as most are all sealed batteries and have been for a long time

Yeah i thought they were all sealed nowadays too, so the switch on the charger surprsied me. It does have those things that you can prize open but it does look sealed?
Im going with sealed

going sealed is good, sealed batteries like a slower charge so you're safe either way even if it is a standard battery
