Car is in with Charles Hurst MD on Monday! Sounds like the variators. If I can get diagnosed with MD, looks like It is a trip to 5 day trip to Shiltech.

I am the OP. I had my 2009 QP 4.2 taken away to Sports Italia in Southampton about 4 weeks ago to have the Variators machined by Maserati. As I described originally my startup was very rough and I should have had them looked at earlier. I go the car back and it has been fine ever since - not a hint of 'bag of nails' just smooth. It's a world of difference. It's been great fun having the car back.

I'll add Ashley was hugely helpful and got a load of other issues fixed. I was really impressed

To be fair I need to chin old Candice. She's getting a bit long in the tooth and manky. Time to upgrade to Elsa.

It's like a 2009 QP 4.2 to a GT Strad 4.7. You can play the same games and they do similar things but there's a bit more 'ompf'

More than enough oomph on my 4.2 DS for me, dunno what the 0-60's are between QP 4.7 auto but I'd wager not much different.

I agree Candice is getting on a bit now. I bet she’s got a dry sump and variator rattle on a cold morning.
