Cos the DS isn't quite an MC Shift. The DS is the same as a CambioCorsa. The MC Shift is similar with single clutch design but with faster changes due to newer TCU/software.

Also many prefer the ZF in a QP due to the QP clientele mainly wanting an exec car more than a sports GT. Myself included....prefered the ZF auto I have on the Exec GT rather the DS.

However I do have the 4200 with CC t balance it

I can totally understand any QP owners that want and like the DS as an all in one device.

Understandable the comment on the original client target, and agree w you if you can have two of those in your stable makes sense to have from each one.

In an ideal world i would have a GT w MC shift but for the money a QP w DS has been fairly close.

So for the GT top gearbox choice seems to be the MC shift over ZF auto.

How come QPVs with Duo select which is essentially like the MC shift are not as much loved and popular pref seems to be ZF auto?

For the GT it depends who you ask but the MC full Auto is considered the best box over the MC shift. When this came out the press said it was the best box and a few owners on here have as well. Think I heard Dicky Grace say this as well.....but best way to find out is drive them all and see which one suits you as we are all different.

But to buy a GT with the MC Auto Shift box you need to buy a facelift Sport model, which is out of budget for the OP. And at £25k I’d even say a GT-S 4.7 MC-Shift is virtually out of budget, baring the occasional high mileage car.

Having had all versions of Maserati gearboxes over the last twenty years, my preference is the manual MC-Shift. That said, it’s very rare for me to have to drive a Maser in a city or stuck in traffic.

Someone paid you to say the first half of that, LOL? It’s not a school boy game of Top Trumps. The MC, 4.2 auto, 4.7 auto and later 4.7 MC Auto shift are all different.

Your comment is not right or wrong - depends what car you want and you can’t buy it sat at a keyboard as you need to drive them. They are all great but with different positives and negatives.

Out of curiosity, having never driven mc shift, how much different it is to cambiocorsa? Other than shift speed?

Can any one explain why a GranTurismo 4.7 s advertised on auto trader has twin exhaust pipes and not oval ones I normally see.

Oval is MC Shift. Twin is auto.

Not sure that’s right...?

There’s plenty of 4.7 Autos with Ovals
In fact it’s more common to see all 4.7’s with ovals than the quads-not sure if it was an option to revert to the quads per the 4.2 models?

News to me, but happy to be corrected. I'm sure somebody will be along soon...

Likewise! I could be wildly wrong...just based on what I’ve seen along the way but sure the more experienced among us will be here to clarify soon

This is correct in standard spec, however, there were two separate packs at different times which gave the 4.7 auto the ovals and then when the Sport came out in late 2012 the ovals became standard.

Cheers for clarifying Bob!
