4.2 E10 Compatibility

So I posted up here the other day about window shopping for a QP and I just had a thought, will an 07-09 QPV 4.2 be ok with the new, water loving, tank corroding E10 fuel coming our way this year?

Has anyone phoned the dealer to check as there is no info for Maserati on the gov site.

I thought I'd be clever and check for the Ferrari F430 on the Gov site too since it's a very similar engine but again no mention, despite all Ferraris after 05 listed as compatible.

Obviously the best thing to do is use super, but that may eventually become E10 as well if we are really unlucky.

Notices on fuel pumps here since I got herein 2018 and most manufacturers seem to be okay with it since the 90's.
Can still get at some stations E5 95 too.

The simple answer is just dont use it...
Esso is badged E5 when it isnt here in most places..
Of course, if it all goes E10 there's no real alternative....:(

Agreed, E10 is a disaster waiting to happen for us classic car enthusiasts.

E5 ate through a lot of hoses on my 164 before I refreshed them. If you have a couple of very large Jerry cans you can separate the Ethanol from the petrol using water and probably a dye to make it easier, but it's unnecessary faff after all these years of just being able to get to the pumps and dump a load of petrol in.

As for Esso, the entire south west is still E5 even on super as well as some parts of the north I believe and unfortunately I am in the south West aha.

By the way, if you plan to separate the Ethanol from the petrol, you will need an octane booster, as this **** modern unleaded relies on the alcohol to boost the octane levels.

. ....

The Govt website says that 'super' will go on being E5, and that's what I always use anyway. So no problem, right? Or am I confused (again)?
