Well done and hats off to Voicey, no small task and appreciate his engineering work round where many would have gone new crank.

Keep us posted.
Will do Matt and yes, I am delighted that it is Voicey looking after my cars. Remarkable knowledge and attention to detail.

As the others have said what a Great thread and what a story your ownership is.
I loved my ownership of my 360 a Great Car.

Thank you for all the kind words and likes guys. I honestly wasn’t sure if I should bore everyone with my woes of an engine rebuild.. hardly a happy story but I’m glad I took the time to post and that the story is of some interest at least to forum members.
Cheers chaps :)

Having zero mechanical skills I am astonished that, what looks to me like a scratch, can have sych a impact on an engine.

However I love reading posts like this so I learn a little more on how precise engines must be.

Great read. Interesting to see the internals, shows they can manage the miles, and more if it wasn't for the cheap seal. Any idea where the bits found were from?

do love reading mechanical threads that end well eventually, oil leak and wrong seal blessing in disguise indeed, had a similar thing with one of my engines a couple of years ago that would have eventually destroyed itself had it not been discovered in time, best of luck bebs and keep posting any updates

Yes indeed Allan, it’s in the thread with pictures... it was a chunk of metal from one of the oil pump wheels.

That's a great read, thanks for sharing, and really interesting to read one being used so regularly.
Good luck with getting it back and ready for it's next 100k

Just a quick update on this having just been to AV to drop off the GTS for a bit of work and a few upgrades.
The crankshaft is back from Hill Engineering and they have indeed managed to polish out all the score marks and remain within OEM seal tolerance. Nice and shiny now.

Recent photos from AV Engineering. Heads are back after skimming and everything is going back together nicely.
The oil pump, with the damaged wheel causing the metal pieces found in the sump, has been put back together again as well.62765627666276762768627696277062771627726277362774
