Local motor factors. Been down with an old one and swapped for ones that fit.

Driver’s side in place.

Had to get a torch on the nuts but eventually undone.

New gaiters won’t fit. Old gaiters are knackered.

Genuinely f d off with it now.

It's certainly fighting you all the way, but it will be well worth it in the end.

Regarding rusty and tight nuts, I purchased an induction heating tool, it's not particularly cheap but it is superb for toasting rusty nuts. I have also used it for hardening and tempering punches and also for silver soldering when I had to extend drills. It's the best piece of kit I've purchased for a long time!

Here's a link to it; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-duc...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

The only way it’ll be worth it is if I can get what I paid for it. I know I won’t get the couple of grand back I’ve had to spend to get it drivable but it’s just creasing me, I’ve been at it for 4 months now, on a car I bought because I didn’t want one that needed work.

It's a strange one, I would rather buy at less cost and be prepared to put the work/£ in to get it to a standard I would be happy with, I think I know what your train of thought was when buying, but I don't think such a car, any car this old exists that won't need something doing to it, granted the work you are having to do is disproportionate to what you thought you were buying, I would be pretty upset myself to be fair, especially with the dealer.

In the last three years I’ve had cars made in 2006, 2004, 2002, 1998 and 1995. All have which have travelled further in a week than this has done in the time I’ve had it. I’ve been to Broadway and back, Hereford and back and twice round the block to see if I’ve fixed the leak.

I wasn't knocking you btw , I have mine and I don't look at it as fixing/maintenance, I look at it as a rolling restoration.

Why didn't you just buy the correct ones in the first place:rolleyes:

£60 quid a pair from a MD, they fitted perfectly! even came with the correct clips..

I did try the TRW Italia web site first, there lots on there, It needs more digging

Not sure if you’re joking Dave, but

£60

I don’t have a MD I can go to.

I’m still waiting for two plastic clips from Maserati that were ordered at the start of December.

It’s a TRW part, they make loads of racks not just Maserati. The boots I got were supposed to be the correct ones.

The new ones are the correct type but for some reason there was a correct one and a spurious one in the box of two.

And £60

If you are joking.

In his current mood I think Oneball might have appreciated something more constructive!

I didn’t opt out of anything, no warranty given due to the age of the car.
I didn’t think a dealer could sell a car to a private buyer without a warranty........ some consumer goods act thingy.......

Without going down the route of solicitors, what can you do?

I tried to return the car after I got it but settled for having the roof, rear quarters and wheel arches painted as I was advised that pushing the point of a refund would require legal advice.

Following this thread I really feel for you and have seen many people come and go on this forum due to having had a horrendous time with a 3200 including one of my own brothers nearly costing him his marriage due to the cost of his 2 year affair with his.
I really hope you can get to the end of it and that you can enjoy her.
Phil.

Totally agree with Phil, everyone here is rooting for you to get through it, use the car and stay in the fold.

When I bought my first on a whim going through a divorce and midlife crisis back in 2010 I bought the first one I saw on a Saturday morning then doing my research on Google I found the forum.
Crazy I know.
Its been sad to see people come and go due to a difficult relationship but it must happen with most marques.
Its annoying as it was supposed to be a good one but you know it will be when you have finished.
It will be another wild tale like most of us have with cars and women.

It is becoming a hateful experience and that's tough...
I think you've done well to stick with it. Even if the driving force is financial That's the way it is with these things, as Im sure you are well aware by now...!
On the back of a string of recent disappointments, Id totally get it if you decided that you've had enough of the experience. After all, as others have noted, a good car, like a good bike, is the kind of pleasure that reaffirms it's value to you.
If you have only negative feelings for the car, I think it's fine to cut your losses. No explanations needed..!
Life's hard enough already, to have put up with stuff you can easily dump !
Its not an entirely Maserati induced impasse after all, and a good 3200 will find a buyer if it comes to it...!
:)
