Steering rack should be coming from DA.

Has anyone changed one before? Is there a method for centralising the rack?

Good man... count the turns either way, you wont get it perfect, but it wont be far off
You'll have to faff centring the steering wheel..
While your at it, chose the best two rack gaiter's!

Thanks. I was hoping there’d be a centering hole or something in the rack.

Old rack out, waiting for the replacement. Replaced the brake hoses and even cleaned the inside of the wheels.

Apparently it’s Easter as I’ve just found hot cross buns.

I reckon it’s been shot since new. It’s being cropping up as an advisory on the MOT for 10 years.

It’s because it’s blue. It’s an unlucky colour! Although having said that the Audi I took both ends off was silver.

Your tenacity is inspiring. And your luck isn’t all bad. When I changed my hoses the hard line twisted (no matter how careful I was) and I had to replace the hardline. Just before the Centenary trip!

It’s not a competition! ;)

No coolant hose for me, but I did have to do the Benny Hill show run around the car at the Peage!
Which I happen to have on video ;)

PS Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread.

You’re the ones I always get stuck behind in the queue!!

That’ll be me, they were just behind me laughing! But it’s ok, I have a tag and a sack of potatoes (Matt for MOB and Dem for Le Mans) so you are safe now!

Rack is now attached to the car, column attached to rack and pipes on.

Can’t get the TRE lock nuts undone, so they’re soaking overnight.

And there it is! Well done for getting them in. Think of the money you are making with your swear jar.

I think I may have offended one of the neighbours at one point

Had to get a torch on the nuts but eventually undone.

New gaiters won’t fit. Old gaiters are knackered.

Genuinely f d off with it now.
