The pot is supposed to sit vertical, mine does anyways. Have you had a read of this? not Maserati specific but Volvo that shares the unit , you would need to know what voltage the Mazzer is aiming for at idle. Seeing as the only thing thats changed is the Tb , maybe the magnet needs adjusting slightly to give the correct voltage output for idle? would tie in with Dave's jammed up magnets scenario too, ie, the computer see's the pedal is at idle (v), but the tb is also telling it its not at idle (v) because the magnet is in the wrong position.

You little beauty mr Lozzer!.......that;s pretty much exactly where I got too in the whole thought process. All i need to do now if find someone who knows the correct voltage....or just trial and error. Either way i feel like i understand whats gone wrong and its just the normal time messing around and grief from the mrs!

I owe you a pint... Ill keep you posted if your interested... Thanks also Dave and the others

so I will sort this out.... Davy83 you mentioned the throttle pot outputs which I had at 389 and 411Mv do i need to replace this unit ultimately? and did someone say you did a good contactless one? let me know if these figures suggest i should. I thought you said they needed to be exactly the same?

Ok so ive looked into this a great deal more...Does anyone know much about the TPS and Pedal Setup? My car only has one pedal(physical unit) Pot not sure if the all did...but Two pots inside the one unit. Mine is mounted vertically and my workshop manual shows it mounted horizontally... I have checked these outputs and they were 389 and 411Mv at tickover. I read somewhere the difference could only be tiny? I then bridged the two outputs and this didn't put out the CEL. The CEL also comes on before you touch the throttle... Any thoughts guys? I have reached out to masereratished i'm hoping they will come back....
389 and 411 is 22mV difference and this will throw a CEL immediately as soon as you start the car. If you join the white and yellow wires and recalibrate it procedure above and clear the error this particaulr problem should go away. I do not advise running it long term with the wires shorted as you now have a higher risk of a WOT fault, although there are many owners who have done just this.
I have had Xmodex modify my throttle body and they replaced the sensors on both ends.
There are two types of pedal set up one horizontal and one vertical it does not affect the set up or the function of the pedal sensor, just the mounting, so dont worrry about that.

Hi, I've just done the same modification as you this afternoon, and have hit snags too! I now have ERROR light up, and next to no throttle response. I've checked my soldering etc again, and all good. Did you get to the bottom of your issue, and if so, how? Many thanks in anticipation. Paddy
