Hi, My 3200GTA from 2000 doesn't fire on sylinder 1 and 5.
Last year it started with some hickups but from this spring it is permanent.
I've tried troubleshooting, switching places on spark plugs, coils, and injectors, but the misfire is stil on sylinder 2 and 5.
Before the engine is warm it sometimes make a "puff" in the exhaust on the right hand side, If I disconnect the injector on nr 2 the "puff" disappears, so I guess it is ignition related.
Any comment's anyone?
Best Regards

Sorry to hear of your woes. I’m sure one of the troglodytes will be along shortly to try and work out why the clockwork has gone wrong. Personally, I think you are doing well having 6 still working. Best of luck.

Has to be the wiring and/or module doesn't it? I mean you've eliminated plugs and coils by swapping them round so work backwards from there.

The important thing here is whether there is an ignition control module or if the coil packs are driven from the ECU? i would have thought you would have some ECU error lights on telling you you have an ignition failure? Are there any ECU errors? Have you just checked the condition of the connectors going to the two faulty cylinder coil packs?
I should also add i have not seen this particular fault on here before. The coil packs failing is pretty common, the heat eventually gets them. Personally I think I would remove the coil pack and plug from the engine and turn it over just to visually confirm the spark plug is not sparking? Then I would replace the coil pack and repeat with a known good coil pack and just double check there is no spark.
The coil packs have a couple of relays and fuses related to them, which might be worth checking. Sadly however the coil packs are directly driven from the ECU. So if its not the wiring then the ECU may be fried.

.......or the sand has run out of the egg timer. Best to check that first.

It’s usually GranTourismos or QPs fall foul of variators. I haven’t heard of any other bird related problems.
