Has anyone successfully painted/refinished the silver crackle on the 3200GT intake manifold and coil covers?

I’ve searched but can’t find silver crackle paint and also don’t think the manifold will fit in my oven.

I can't recall anyone getting a close match. I had black coil covers on mine, always wondered when they changed and if for any reason. 2001 car.

There's places who will recreate that effect, same as MGB dashes but in a different colour!

I did a couple of Alfa cam covers in the neighbour's green house last summer with a special crackle aerosol spray paint, they turned out pretty good!

Getting the crackle finish is straight forward enough. It's not quite silver though. It's more grey with a tiny hint of gold possibly?

Thanks both. I’ve found black, blue, red and green but can’t find silver of any shade either diy or professional

The last person I saw DIY a silver crackle manifold, they used red crackle for the texture, and sprayed silver on top.

This raises the question, can you use VHT paint to spray over the original crackle finish and get a good result?

I did think of that but there’s a few bits of flaked paint there quite a rough sand casting so it might be an idea to strip and do without the crackle and see what they look like.

from experience, VHT paint will disappoint.
Crackle paints will surprise you on the other hand, and an amateur can achieve a decent result with common sense and a little patience...!

Where are you based? I use a company that powdercoats fire escape steps, stoves etc. They may be able to match the colour but you will probably have to pay them a visit.

I’m in Worcester. I’ve tried a couple of my local places and they can’t do it.

Have you tried Droitwich Powdercoating? They did my 3200 cam covers in red crackle finish and could possibly find a match - they do lots of old Ferrari, Lambo etc parts.

Thanks. I’ve sent them a message. It’s the colour that seems to be the problem rather than the texture.
