Low mileage does not mean there is not a problem with end float or indeed other items. Some forum owners have had the problem with low mileage cars and other who have high mileage cars (mine at 86k) have been ok. My own opinion is that if cars are used and serviced correctly then they end up being more reliable then garage queens. If you like the car get it inspected by an independent garage £300 spent could save you £10k.

My old one managed 30,000 miles, the replacement was still going strong at 50,000 miles. There is no hard and fast rule. I would say, that if it was going to happen, then it would probably have happened by now, ( maybe not in you low mileage case,) they did not all succumb, there are various theories about probable causes.

My old 3200GT managed about 24k before the thrust washers started to wear
That said It spent most of its life in central London, what with all that clutch work

Its even better than new now after its 13k+ engine rebuild and upgrades!
I know what your all going to say ;)
