Good evening everyone
After a few months I finally found a manual 3200 from late 2001 (apparently)

I ve read all about the quality improvement on the 01/02 cars and so I’ve searched specifically for one of such harvest

The VIN of the car I’m considering ends in 3822, can someone confirm it’s actually from 2001? And as such one of the better built ones? The previous owner over the course of the past 6 year spent a not inconsiderable amount replacing several parts (including the throttle bodies) , car has 62K miles and comes with a one year engine and gearbox warranty

Not planning on using it everyday but every week yes definitely and although I’ve seriously considered other options (with a less scary reputation) I always circle back to this one because it does look like it’s been taken care of….

What’s your take on this?

Thanks in advance,

Miguel

Thanks DLax I’m extremely tempted (other real option is a DB7 manual in Chiltern green - I do have a two seater fast toy for the weekend blast, so 4 seats and ‘some’ practicality is needed

I don’t think that VIN reading is correct as this one doesn’t have a letter but 5 Zeros (00000) from the 9th til the 13th

Hi Miguel
You can contact Maserati directly to find out when the car was built. Ending 3822 should be a generation 2 car built 2001.

I hope it helps

I sent the US spec just as an example...sure the interwebs could turn something on your end, Miguel. But am very excited for you!

Easiest way to spot a late 3200gt is to check in the engine compartiment if the secondary air system is present.
It looks like stainless mushrooms.
A vin ending by 3822 is probably a late 2000, not a 2001 (I think the modification was around de vin 4500).

In fact, it doesn't really matter today, you can read the errors on the non-OBD2 cars without too much difficulty now.
A nice 2000 is as good as a 2001. ;)

Gemini thanks for the reply and, taking your word for it, I think it’s a 2001 then - as attached pic

There’s also an excel file online with the 3200 VINs and according to it, 3822 is indeed 2001 car but I still have to: a) see the car for myself (the seller is amazing a true knowledgeable person); b) go to the local Maserati dealer and see what they can tell me about it5230EB7B-AC49-4AE6-BB1F-B105EE0ADDBE.jpeg
