3200 turbo coolant hoses

Hey All,

I've noticed the 3200 has developed somewhat of a coolant leak, I've traced it back to the coolant pipes that run down to the turbo......that's all well and fine, but these parts aren't readily available from eurospares or Maserati any more, my old mechanic has told me they can be replaced with a generic coolant pipe but the mechanics down here in Adelaide say it has to be Maserati as it has certain bends in it.....all good and fine assuming you can get the parts.....anyone know anything about this at all?

Cheers

Tim

Any decent fabricator can bend or cut some hose to shape/size. It's dead easy, don't buy the original part, they are ****.

I thought the turbo coolant hoses were metal flexi? I had mine replaced a couple of years ago.

Nope, rubber water hoses. The oil feeds however may be different. Mine was bulging and then burst. Pig to get to.

Yes, christ it was a horrid job to change mine.

I ended up having to use a dremel on the end of a flexi line to nipp off the crimped hose clips, like threading a needle whilst on your back and in the relative dark!

I suspect it's the coolant hose - these regularly perish due to heat at turbo end. Maserati part has 2 small bends but I used straight length from Roose without any problem. I can't recall bore from memory.

I replaced these hoses with generic coolant hoses while I had the gearbox removed to replace the clutch. Any other way was just too hard.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

I am still doing battle with the mechanic who is refusing to use anything but genuine parts (Which is understandable), My old mechanic used generic hose and has never had an issue, difference being, I trust my old mechanic, my new one I don't. Unfortunately due to moving 2000km away from my old guy, **** happens.

I am just checking with Eurosport a lead time, but I suspect it'd be 2 weeks + to get to me when a generic hose would do the job as has been said......

Also, it was the hoses that came down from the side of the engine to the turbo, rubber ones. As someone said, they perish due to heat from what I understand....

Thanks again.

Hang on. You're the customer. If he won't do as you as, his prerogative, of course, find another one!

I would love to, but I am seriously struggling to find one in Adelaide at present.....Brisbane was fine, had a fantastic one but oh well.....

Mechanic has finally given in after a bit of pressure and is putting a generic coolant hose on for me as a short term thing till I order some from that other place listed earlier in this thread....

As a fully skilled technician your paying us for our skills and years of experience.
Most customers don't have that.
I'm all for alternatives but there can also be risks.
It's not always easy but most people think they can do my job.
Just saying :)

Completely agree with you on this one, my gripe does not lie with the mechanic (as I incorrectly wrote), but the head mechanic who is the boss. The one calling the shots. The one who told me that generic hoses would not suffice and the car essentially had reached the end of its life unless I could find the original hoses.

Hi Phil!

I'm absolutely not saying that. I have the greatest respect for skilled people in all walks of life :)
As I stated he has the prerogative of turning down the work, but if Coxy wants it done one way, and the mechanic done another, the, not withstanding the challenges of finding an alternative, it's in Coxy's gift to walk away

Another question is: Are the hoses really leaking or does it come from the connection where the coolant is starting to crystallize over time? I had almost on all coolant hose connections this blue crust which lead to leaks.

I haven't seen it, the only explanation I got is "It's a common problem and the pipes crack and leak after a period of time" I was happy with that, it's a wear and tear item, not sure if it was crystallized or not, but when I got under the car to have a look, when I moved the pipe, coolant came flowing out so.....

Which side do you need mate? I have part number 470369200M sat here on my desk. https://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/...corsa/all/turbo-cooling-pipes-41460/470369200 It appears to be the same shape as part 17 but has the 18 number go figure?

It looks like this

I replaced those with roose silicone hose, suitable for coolant, fluro lined etc. (that's what you get in their kit)

There were no clearance issues or worries at all that I could see with that approach.
