3200 not starting

So my normally reliable 3200 (7 years and no issues what so ever) doesn't seem to want to start today, turns over fine and fuel seems to be coming though (I can smell it after thing to start it) almost like there is no spark!

Was sat out in some very hear rain, so hoping something just got damp, although I suspect it will not be that simple!

I know they can be funny with regards to the. battery but it seems to turn over fine and even with a booster added it will not fire up.

Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

Remove a plug lead & see whether you have a spark while turning over the engine with starter motor. Report back & we'll go to the next step..

Had a similar problem with my 3200 a couple of times. Each time I put the charger on the battery for about an hour, then away she went! The voltage needs to be above a certain level, otherwise it won't fire, even though it turns over quickly.

If you have low battery charge level, either you aren't using the car enough to keep it charged ,or,the alternator isn't working properly. I keep my 3200 on CTek trickle charge whenever it's in the shed.

It should start with a booster I would have thought , mine regularly lays up to 4 weeks and starts on the battery with no trickle charger, only non start I've had was at the last mot when the garage tried their best to cook it, started with a booster though, the non start turned out to be a weak starter, it turned over fine but may have been hogging all the amps?

have tried with all 3 - although I know one of the black ones has a bit missing so doesn't work fully either alarm or imobilser. will check battery with multimeter at some point.

The only times my car thows out its dummy and wont start with no signof life at all its the immobiliser that has shut it down, and lots of locking and unlocking makes it go. as stated above you wont get a spark if the immobiliser has cut in. it could be the little chip in the key or the coil in the sterring column.
7 years without a problem on a 3200 that has to be a record? I would have said that was impossible.

It really has been faultless, to this point couldn't have asked for better and to be fair I hadn't started it for two weeks (sailed through MOT fine at the start of December). Even when I took it on a track day it was used continuously and performed far better than I expected for a relatively heavy GT car.

How would you know if it's an imobilser issue?

Check the LED for the immobiliser is on and goes out when you try to start. There’s a bit about the LED in the owners book.

One issue I had with a car left outside was that the drain for the fuel flap recess was blocked.
So rain was going straight into the filler neck and tank.

I assume the little lock light is out. As said try locking unlocking a few times, possibly disconnect and reconnect the battery. It does sound immobiliser like. Would it still pump fuel with the immobiliser active?

i think when the immobiliser cuts in, the pumps still run but the spark plugs don't fire. however it would make more sense for the fuel pumps not to run either so the engine does not flood. unless the fuel injectors dont operate which would work I guess.

What voltage should a healthy batter read and what is it likely to drop too when cranking?

I’d like to see more than 12.6v and not drop below 10v when cranking as a minimum

Start with the basics?

Diagnostics check.
Pull a plug and check for spark.
Check fuel pressure while cranking.
