3200 knock sensor fault both banks

Hello, I recently had a coolant pipe split on the maser from the thermostat to the engine, since then I keep getting knock sensors. Is it because the V is flooded with coolant, and once the coolant is evaporated, will the faults stop, or am I like to need to get 2 new knock sensors?

Thanks

The V of the block is prone to coolant flooding so yes, you need to change them. You could clean them up first bit it’s not worth taking the plenum off twice to do.

Be very, very careful undoing the knock sensor bolts, they shear easy.

Take your time, flood the screws with release agent and leave overnight before attempting.

And when refitting dont over torque the knock sensors - its really low value and manufacturer recommendation is buried in a far from obvious place in the manual.

Yes sadly as had been said the effort to get into the knock sensors makes not replacing them a poor option. They do some times dry out if there has been a little condensation around them, but a proper leak i think will probably have goosed them. Best make a list if you are going in there, as there are a few jobs worth doing while the plenum is off.
Personally i did the following
- Replace the water hoses with silicone ones
-Replace all the plenum bolts
-replace the knock sensors
-strip and reseal the main plenum under cover and use loctite on the cover screws
-Replace the starter motor with a better one, I used a Bosch part.
-new o-ring seals on the intake ports.

simple job really :)

Thanks for all the replies, I've got my 1st MOT with her in April, so as soon as that's out of the way I'll get in there and sort it
