I guess the aircon is similar for a 4200. What could it be if the circulation button (left of eco button) is by default on when the car starts. Always have to switch it off. No cold air blowing , although I hear the pump engaging.

It's the same. It's also automatic. If the system thinks the re-circulation should be on....

As far as I remember mine was not on switched on by default in the past. I think it started behaving like that after resetting the system. Got rid of an aa55 error though. Some more troubleshooting needed

In Thailand, couldn't sit in the car for more than 10 minutes without aircon. Mine was struggling blowing tepid air out. The local aircon shop (long established) is probably the only trusted technician I've ever come across here. About an hour after starting on my car, says better come back tomorrow ... upon my return next day the following photo greeted me [door panels already off to replace window drive cog]. After a cardiac arrest, the owner assured me there was a leak [in the matrix IIRC], duly fixed, 2 years later car is still like a fridge.57884

Good to get the matrix replaced, but that won't have stopped your aircon from being cold, surely?

No idea, technically I am at ground zero & getting info from an old Thai/Chinese guy via the wife/translator...matrix wasn't replaced, just a leak in/near it...in the bowels of the dashboard.

There are two matrixes, one for the heating and one for the cooling. The cooling one will be much more robust but it will be sealed using clamped o-rings which can dry out and shrink....
