Does anyone know if the upper face of a 4200 will fit a 3200 ? They look the same and I am wondering if Maserati, being the company they are, tried to keep a lot of parts the same to cut down on costs.

I think it was but if it's black, looks like leather and feels like leather that will be fine by me. My dash top leather has dried to a crisp and needs replacing, I bought a leather kit to re cover it but doubt it will turn out very good. I can get a 4200 one in the right colour and it looks very, very similar.

Suprano Stu sourced and had fitted a new 3200 one for me a while back.

Thread bump.
There’s a company on eBay (j-f-customs) selling new leather covers custom made for the 3200 dash top.
I’m looking at repairing mine this winter. Has anyone bought from them that can comment on the quality?

I haven’t bought from them, but what needs repairing? I had mine re glued and stretched by a local trimmer, pictures on an old project thread somewhere. Cost me about £130 I think after taking the dash to to them.

It might be worth getting a re-trim price from a local trimmer? That way they will be fully responsible for the leather and fitting….

P.S When looking at it I think the 3200 has stitching around the instrument binnacle whereas I don’t think the 4200/GS has, it’s just one piece.

The one I bought was a 4200 one and it had stitching around the binnacle although it was white stitching whereas the old one had black stitching.

My 2007 car has no stitching, I guess I was wrong, they must vary. Still toying with the idea of re trimming my light Avorio dash top as it reflects terribly! Wearing polarised sunglasses seems to get rid of it for the most part, now have to always drive with shades :p

Regarding the stitching, they seem to make them in any combination the customer wants.
A local upholster in Luxembourg is out of the question as there aren’t many and prices are through the root.
I don’t think my leather is salvageable so I will likely order from these guys.

Sorry Jluis, only just seen this. I contacted j-f customs a few years ago asking them if they did a leather gearstick gaiter for a 4200, they didn't. They said if I sent them my old one then they would make me one FOC as I would be providing them with a template for future sales. The quality was great and they even matched the turquoise stitching with a thicker/better quality thread. I was very pleased with my experience with them!
