Well, because. 2024 didn't work out the way I expected. I\m getting older. My best friend has AF and I need to get better at doing stuff I'm already doing. I know it feels better when I do, but I lack consistency.

This year I'm 21lbs over so less booze and more movement.

Wishing you the Best Chris and too all of us that want to stay fit and healthy.
For myself I'm looking at spending more time in my workshop and not binge eating like I seem to have done this Christmas.

Good to try at least!
My sore back has been a pain :) during 2024.
Because of this sore back I have added 21lbs as you did because of lack of movement mostly.
Quit al the sport activities in 2024: cycling, canoeing, swimming, running and DiY on my cars…
After several medical visits and NHS appointments I am starting next Monday my 8 weeks attempt to make my back better. It’s a very intense program every second day, dead Lift, bench, bench stretching, body weight exercises, swimming, Physiotherapist.

Good luck to all the people trying to be better for themselves!

Do you have professional support? The one thing I cannot recommend enough is a personal trainer that knows their stuff. I was out at our running club this morning. Sub zero temps, but dry and sunny. First proper movement I'd done for a fortnight due to cheese Christmas and various lurgies. And it was bloody fabulous.

I was quite surprised how we are going to fix my back based on the NHS assessment .
Not sure I trust NHS . I’ll se by myself if I am getting any better… and yes I’ll have a personal trainer as well…

This makes you think a lot.
Both pigs were raised under identical free range conditions. The right was supplemented with some grain/corn/soy based feed the left was left to forage naturally
Pretty much shows the benefits of grass fed and finished (no grain fed) meat.
It should also give you some indication of what grain/soy/corn does to our bodies.

Sort of depends on what you're aiming for in the finished product. What it more *likely* shows is what happens to pigs if they are in an environment where excess calories are freely available rather than something specific against soy / wheat / whatever.

Anyway 4.4lbs down this week. Mostly water of course, but certainly some fat gone. Even happier since I've done mostly FA exercise this week :(

Very little wheat, and no soy past my lips though ;)

Some Zoe podcasts are coming to a similar conclusion if I translate correctly - and there's an interesting programme/series on Channel 4 or 5 at beginning of week around 8/9pm coming up with some tips

One thing I've noticed around here is Organic Farming is getting bigger.
I always thought it was a middle class fad until I met Ms French and now certainly wouldn't go back.
It works Well for me as the only Sport I like is Motorsports so I don't exercise other than walking and wielding my spanners in the workshop.
Buying meats from a proper Butcher in your local area is the way to go.
Just my thoughts :)

There absolutely are several differences...including the flavor...between cattle that have been grass-fed and -finished and those that have been grass-fed but grain-finished and the head that are exclusively grain-fed and -finished.

Agree wholeheartedly. Great local butcher here with people that live on the estate. Free delivery. It's great

Cleared the 5lb I was over from last year, but still need to focus to get it where it should be. Also 0.75 miles ahead of my daily schedule to cover 3000 miles on my daily walks (140.48m), this is specific walks not just daily steps (168.02m)

89kg for me just over 14 stone so I'm happy with that.
Only achieved due to my recent works on removing and refitting the Renault 4 engine and gearbox after giving it a rebuild.

11lb down in 2 weeks. That’s the easy bit at the beginning, now it starts get harder as the reduction slows down and temptation snack increases…..
Zoe had an interesting/worth listening to podcast on Youtube explaining why it gets difficult to loose weight - apparently it's against our biology from feast/famine days
