One positive for us that’s come out of this Covid lark is that we started buying meat veg and fruit from local independent shops. So much better quality than supermarkets and I haven’t noticed much difference in price. We get sucked in by convenience.
You are soooo right!............How many Butchers, Fishmongers and Milkmen Milkperson's do you see now-a-days? And we are all guilty of getting everything from under one roof regardless of quality. These shops are also guilty of 'beating up' Farmers and alike for the best price as they are their only source of income (or at least their 'bread and butter')!!

We have our milk delivered in glass bottles 3 times a week. I tend to get day to day meat from Makro (the quality is surprisingly good) and on special occasions, from a very very good organic butcher.
Sadly our nearest fishmonger is miles away. I struggle to pass a good fishmonger without buying a load of stuff!

Fortunate that our village has a number of shops both food and other goods... even have an 'open all hours' style hardware shop... but christ the owner is a grumpy sod.
Pharmacy too.

No fishmongers but one of the two Deli have fresh fish delivery evey Monday and Friday... just order in advance.

Prices are high but on a par with Booths or Waitrose organic prices.
