I started to develop food intolerances from about mid-30s. Am now intolerant of gluten, lactose, and many nuts and fruits. There is research that indicates that some fruit and nut intolerances/allergies are synonymous with allergies like hayfever, ie if you are allergic to the pollens of certain plants/trees, you can develop a reaction too to eating their fruit/seeds, particularly during the pollen season. Reading that research made a lot of sense of my particular hayfever and fruit/nut related reactions. Still, at least no intolerance to meat or fish..

By the way, a peanut is actually a bean not a nut....
Do you leave near any silver birch trees? These are well known to initiate an allergy to other things. We have two monsters in our garden and I have developed a mild allergy to some fruits as a result, as well as not doing my hay fever any favours. As you say research points to this happening. Eyes started itching two days ago

I don’t recall any nearby when we were in the UK, certainly not now. We had lots of cherry trees with huge amounts of blossom that seemed to coincide with my worst hay fever periods in the UK. Still suffer here in the Algarve too for a period from March to June.

In terms of diagnosing food intolerances/allergies, I did an electronic analysis a few years back that was, without any advance knowledge by the operator, incredibly effective at identifying all my previously tested and self-diagnosed intolerances, and a few others besides that I have subsequently felt better for reducing or avoiding. Here’s a link to what I did. Sounds a bit alternative and hocus poçus but the results were very persuasive.

I know there are sceptics, but I do believe that food intolerances are a growing problem in this modern world of ours. We eat things that our bodies have never evolved properly to digest. And we also now eat more things grown in other parts of the world that contain things that our bodies didn’t not get used to when we were young. All IMHO.

End of February / month 2 update

Another kilo down I am currently down to 72.6kg consistently over the past 4 days. 9kg down since I started training in August 2020 and 2.3kg down since the start of Jan - not bad for feeling like I have plateaud

I have started randomly dieting for some reason... I think it is mostly a combination of boredom (lets see what happens if i do this...) and that we bought a vitamix blender after our previous blender nearly caught fire - we burn out a blender a year and decided the next one would be a vitamix with 7 year warranty.

I am having a smoothie for lunch and salad for dinner. Quite enjoyed doing it this week but I will be having a more substantial dinner tonight after having a PT session this morning... She made me do the most brutal chest into ab combo then finished off with shoulders and triceps. First time I have collapsed towards the end while doing press ups so it's gonna hurt tomorrow !

I might enjoy some carbs on the weekend as I am planning on cycling after being a bit lazy last weekend (mostly hungover)

Does anyone else have one of these beasts? Highly recommended if you have regular smoothies/milkshakes/slushies/frozen cocktails

+2.2hp to the collection with this lol

On the subject of feeling like plateauing; due to not having the usual array of gym equipment, we've not been really measuring and recording increases in weights and suchlike, more just maintaining a routine.

I have a pull up bar mounted to the wall in the carport, which I'd not really used as my truck was parked in front of it. Since moving into a new building at work, my truck now lives there, which means the pull up bar came back into use.

At the beginning of the month reps of a rather feeble 6 chin ups was all I could manage, since then I've been doing them every day. Yesterday I managed 3 sets of 10 whilst wearing a 10kg weighted vest, and then 15 without the vest as a finisher. It was really very satisfying to experience such an improvement in a relatively short period of time.

Apparently the world record is 54 in a minute, something to aim for perhaps :p

Sod the vest, Dan, I reckon with a carefully chosen diet you could easily add your very own natural 'weight vest', powered by kebabs, ice cream, burgers and beer.

Finished this morning's session with a standing fly drop set. 10kg for 10, 5kg for 15, 2kg for 15, just arms held up for 15 secs, and finally 20 arm raises (flapping).

After 3 sets of that I'm going to struggle to wash my hair in the shower!

I've been struggling to get in the calories for this bulking phase, but yesterday I managed 4,213 calories!
The secret was 800g pasta bake for breakfast, Italian meat selection and olives for lunch and half a chicken with veg for dinner, and a pint of Guinness.
All in all about 2kg of food!! yet this morning's weigh in showed the same weight as the day before ??

Only 1 pint? That‘s the recipe for a losing weight diet, not a gaining weight one!

Assuming you burned 2000 calories by being alive, your net calorific gain was 2213. A pound muscle takes about 2000 calories to build and contains about 700 calories of anergy. You maybe will show a pound gain. In a little while.

Just wondered, has anyone done the 8 hour eating window diet? Where you only eat between midday - 8pm.

Thanks
