So, saw cardiologist.
Severe stenosis diagnosed -even though I have no symptoms.
I can keep exercising.
I’ve decided to get the valve replaced ASAP on the basis that I’m stronger without symptoms and therefore in the best place for the required open heart op......which I expect will be 3-4 months away.
Gonna keep living the way i’ve been doing.....nothing else for it....but I’m gonna have to prepare everything at home for the previously unthinkable, just in case.
There will be a lot of contemplation in the coming months.

Very best wishes Wattie and hope that all goes well when the time comes. Always enjoy your contributions on here (well apart from Ponzi stuff):p

Take care

Wattie, what do you use to buy Gold. Just wondering what are the best vale platforms.

Also have you looked at Gold backed ETFs?

Wattie, sorry to hear of your troubles. The good news is its out in the open and you can plan a way forward, although it may not be your original plan to be fair.....
On a similar topic.
Couple of years back (age 59) I had to undergo a 'remote location medical' by ISOS for a new employment.
Working in oil & gas I'm used to having yearly medicals so no concerns. I did however not fess up to a recent type 2 Diabetes verdict from my GP.
I realised this medical was different when I got a separate appointment just for 'bloods' apparently one test had to be in the lab within 12 hours?
The medic taking bloods also had to double check as he thought there was a mistake in the quantity / numbers of tests.
So a day after the full medical, and I mean full, I get a call to go in and discuss some 'issues'.
No doubt diabetes had been spotted!!

Wrong. First thing Dr. tells me us I've tested positive for TB
Which will need more tests / x-rays.
He then mentioned an irregular heart rhythm.... Off to cardiologist who says it's a ' normal abnormality!' and not to worry () - I had to look that up!
XRays on chest. Confirms Latent TB, apparently some 30% of UK may be infected but as we get TB shots it doesn't develop.
No further action (apparently any cure at my age is more dangerous than leaving well alone!)
Doctor Calls me back to discuss..... Raised Hemi Diaphragm....!!!!!! Also apparently not an issue (!).
Back to the internet!!
But the 15 degree Aortic Twist needs to be monitored,......
More internet......
And I felt fine going in!!!

I'm convinced better diagnostics is making me unwell

Thanks for sharing RobinL.
As I’ve said to a well known Maserati Mechanic on here, you and I are a bit like a dodgy Maserati that looks straight as a dye on the outside but the running gear is a little suspect :lol2:
Doesnt matter, somehow we’ll keep running, someone loves us and that makes us special.;)

Ha! Yes! Exactly. When the engine quits, knock it into neutral, hope for a downhill stretch and see how far you get coasting in!!

I’ll submit my numbers. Jan 2nd, I was 87kgs. Today, I am 72 kgs. The downside is my trousers keep falling down....
Wow that is fantastic. I reckon you win.
You must have Scottish ancestry though as only a Scotsman would think I’ve bought them, i’m gonna keep wearing them.

I have an exercise bike and try to do two 20 min sessions each day. It’s in front of the telly so plenty of Netflix and Prime. I don’t each much meat, watch what I eat and try not to eat after 7pm. I usually treat myself to a piece of chocolate while reading before bed. I also still drink alcohol Friday and Saturday. But really, try to keep calories below 1500 each day and exercise is are the keys.

I can nearly get into my 501s that I bought in 1990. Just another 2-3 kgs to go. Oh, and my son needs to leave home because he keeps borrowing them.
And yes, I hate throwing things away....

Yeah.... Not been a good year so far as I’ve gained almost all that I lost last year (within 1/2 stone) anyway last weeks exertions in the kayak with controlled eating shifted 1/2 stone off but also strained all my back intercostal muscles with the technique improving I’m starting to use the core for power and that is a significant change from arms which is easy to start with but not good over distance. Taken it easy this week and the ribs are almost there. Kept that weight off so going again on Wednesday for a gentle paddle out only. Long way to go but should feel the benefits along the way.

To be honest, it is quite easy once you get into the routine. I do have days where I think fook it and buy beer in the week too. The other thing I do it weigh myself every day. If you start to see an increase over a few days, it’s a trigger to have a week being good again. Of course, the **** weather helps.....
