For weight loss, shedding a stone from just one gym session a week is a great result. You must have kept a good eye on your calorie intake.

But you needn't worry about the bodybuilder look or any real muscle gain from such a workout regime. For noticeable muscle mass increases you'd need at least 4 weights sessions a week (or some substance assistance!).

Now the gym is re-opened I've booked daily one-hour sessions, for Monday to Saturday. Sunday is for resting, maybe with just a mid-morning stroll.

Indeed! I have two meals a day (lunch and dinner) most days I have salad for lunch and then something more substantial which is "balanced" for dinner. I try to limit my carb and sugar intake also but not eradicate them entirely.

I avoid liquid calories as they seem to make me put on weight very quickly... That's everything from Orange juice to lager/beer which are the things I enjoy but it is what it is... To get drunk i have vodka shots chased with tonic as a result the last time I drunk beer it didn't do anything lol

I have cut out caffeine entirely. It was causing a few issues partly if I had tea/coffee in the morning I would then have to eat breakfast or my stomach would hurt until I ate something. It was also causing me to have anxiety so I am much better off without

Not to detract from the actual work out... It might only be 30 minutes but there are virtually no breaks other than the odd 30 seconds to catch my breath and my muscles hurt for up to 3 days afterwards. Sometimes if she gets me really good certain muscles can burn for up to 6 days afterwards

Plan for December is to maintain the exercise, to drink like a fish, and hopefully be below 85kg on New Years Eve.

Turns out drinking like a fish works as a weight loss mechanism.... after a week enjoying the odd glass or two, I decided to keep with weekly weigh-ins, and today was:

7th December - 82.9kg @ 23.8% body fat; 51% water, 10.5 visceral fat

Getting much closer to my overall target of 82.5kg...

A sneeze and a haircut and you’ll have hit your target. Very well done.

I’m still on track to hit my (more modest) target of ending the year a stone lighter than when it started. I’m currently 7lbs in credit on that, with only 4 weeks to go, so on the Jan 1st weigh-in I should be safely within the target.

I then just need to do it all again next year.

Not been trying for ages other than grafting around the property was pleasantly surprised when I had my accident recently that the Dr said I was 90kg and that I had nothing to worry about weight wise.
She was more concerned about my tan and thoroughly checked my skin and thankfully no worries especially as I don't use any sun protection.
Yesterday was a result as I thought I would have a go on the scales which confirmed 90 kg last time and 89.4.
Hard graft is good for you it seems.

Me too, not exercised properly all year but house renovation works have kept me ok
Still at the top of my BMI healthy range which I am happy with considering the year we have all had

C’mon JonW you can do this!
I’ll assist and will sacrifice my entire year of hard work and take all your Christmas booze that you’ve just bought in the last few days to help you.

That’s very encouraging Ewan.
Some of us don’t have the haircut option.
Just saying.

Well done by the way.

Hard graft?
Hang on, if you get a decent haircut you’ll be down to mid 70’s. I’ve seen smaller haystacks.

When she said she was more concerned about your tan, did she ask you to strip?

Very generous offer Wattie! Fortunately I’ve come away for 4 days to Chewton Glen to celebrate my anniversary, and I suspect I will put on some weight while here...
