My eldest has given me a Pulse H10 heart rate monitor. I’m sure this will prove valuable in the coming months, anyone got any tips to get the best from it?

Eh... Strap it on? Seriously it will be good to help keep your heartbeat in an area that aids fat burn.

Stupid Tacx heart rate monitor doesn't have a two piece strap with fastener. Just one piece strap you have to step in to or stuff over your head.

Are they all like that? Might need to cut it in 2 and add some velcro fastener.

Well still going in the right direction if somewhat slower than I would have liked

5th Jan 14 St 10 lbs

Still not got the cycle trainer sorted, struggling with spending a grand but I know I need some sort of exercise machine I can use at home

No every one I’ve had comes apart, although I have a Garmin one where for ages I thought I had to do as you described, and then I realised it had a slide and hook arrangement as part of the buckle where you can adjust the tightness... I felt a real numpty when I realised! May be worth checking....

I also weighed myself this morning, and am continuing to make steady progress thankfully...

Last Saturday I was 88.65kg, and this morning I was 87.45, so a 1.2 kg weight loss. Am happy with that, and the even better news is that (apparently) my muscle mass has increased, my body fat% has decreased, my visceral fat has reduced, my muscle quality has increased, and my metabolic age has reduced... if I keep up this I will soon have the body of a 50yr old! (Pity I’m only 47...)

1st Jan - 91.5kg
19 Jan - 87.5kg

I have the body of an 18-year old. It’s in the freezer.

Groucho Marx, I think.

Anyway, good work, Jon. Those scales pump out some good data. I don’t have any scales so God knows whether my efforts are working, but I’m feeling more energised. I’ll take that as a win.

I'm bang on 6ft and 13st 3lb or 83kg.

Haven't been weighing myself much....well...at all! Started at 83kg above and this morning 79.7kg. Could be a bit of water/food difference.

I suspect much has been down to cutting out 90% of biscuits, cakes, crisps and all the bad snacks. I have cut pretty much all of these out only allowing a few occasional treats. Needs very strong mind but must be good to train the mind to be stronger so win win.

Keep it all up boys but very much with medium to long term views. Short term gains or success is not real or sustainable IMHO.

I seem to be settling into a slow burn loss pattern after dramatic early losses. The daemons are tormenting me (I still cannot pass the fridge without opening it to see if the fairies have re-stocked it since the last pass) but it is getting a bit easier and my stomach has shrunk already I can tell. Yesterday I finished on site, cold and hungry and needed fuel in the Volvo. Sandwiches in the garage were at 50% and I found myself picking up two, a salmon and a cheese and tomato. The latter made it home (incredible for me) and I felt guilty with myself and gave it to my youngest. I’m taking that as a win for the diet as last month that would never have happened and no doubt there would have been a pastie in there as well!
