They are excellent and rumour has it that they can easily be mapped to S spec. I couldn’t say for sure.....

The 21” wheels ride badly on Pirelli tyres unless the car has skyhook which is optional on them. If it doesn’t you’ll need to think about changing to Michelin although in Gold Coast it might be warm enough to not experience the same problems as us lot slumming it back home. Basically Pirelli are fine when warm and dangerous when cold. The warm up time is too long in the UK but as I said, in Oz, you might be ok.

I loved mine, and with a couple of tasteful exhaust mods, such as an x-pipe to delete the centre silencer, they sound very good considering there’s only 6 cylinders.

I have considered getting another as they are cheap here and for 20k-22k in our money, you get a nice petrol one like this one.

Servicing is a bit steep but I don’t think that using a specialist will reduce value too much.

Echo all the above comments. I've had two and loved them both. The spec in the one you are looking at is good and the Titano's transform the look of the car.

Really good daily driver. Nice place to be. Oh, and it sounds great.

Only issue I had was brake judder following remap to S spec (c £300 to up from 350 to 410) which I never got to the bottom of. S have the bigger calipers at the front - 6 pot v the 4 of the non S and was thinking of sourcing a set of those before I swapped it in for a GTS.

It's an issue that has also been discussed by others on here.

Good luck with the search Wattie.

Latest, I’ve just driven a diesel....overpriced btw.....to get a feel for it.

no paddles, no bose, bit shoddy and felt a little harsh...the ride. Not a lot of rear passenger space either....or am I being picky?
No-where near the Merc quality....Central armrests felt really cheap.....orrible plastic.
However I’m not put off entirely.
Above owner has come back with a bottom line of 59k.......mmmmn.
Schoolgirl error....haven’t even started haggling.

No other input on the 3.0 petrol non S?

Yeh, its the one to buy. I know some like the diesel but i hated it and the petrol is reasonably efficient so the saving on mileage is not worth the smile factor. The S is technically the same with a map to more power and a few options thrown in to justify the extra cost. A good spec non-S with a map is a better buy. Don’t judge the Ghibli on driving a diesel.

I think a petrol Ghibli is now a good buy although I’d maybe want to strut his to a mid-life update car as the niggles have been fixed and the incar stereo is much better, with good touchscreen Spotify streaming and the like.

Non-S petrol is what to buy, factor in a map, x-pipe and good tyres. Paddles are nice to have, extended leather is nice as the dash is plasticky without it, standard wood looks a bit like fake logs so other trim is nice, bowers and Wilkins stereo is good but you can change the speakers on the standard stereo easily. Reverse camera also nice, its a wide and big machine when you get to a supermarket car park.

All in all, its a good car and competes against the Germans by looking good and feeling more valuable. Here, they do some nice specs such as Gransport and Zegna to make it feel better still but those cars are still new enough to be dropping value quickly.

Thanks Outrun, I’m waiting on the seller getting back to me.
Were there many niggles with the early cars?
i’m not sure if this one is eligible for an extended warranty....will need to check.

Front suspension strut tops in the engine bay cracking.
I know Craig Waterman in the States had a major issue with one.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing the thread. If seller gets back to me for an appointment I’ll check. Didn’t Maserati do a recall?

They should have check with your local dealer mate.
The mileage is so low I doubt you would see anything wrong.

Yes there was a recall for strut towers.. In fact lots of recalls early on.

I also drove the diesel before I bought petrol and 100% agree with @outrun

Also had extended leather (mine was silver with red leather) which was a lovely place to be.

Apart from brake issue mentioned earlier I had 3.5 years faultless ownership over 2x Ghibli's.

The diesel is not bad and does a job well for those that do the miles but the petrol, i felt, as I know you did too, has much more of a Maserati character. And mine did 28-30mpg which was entirely acceptable for the oomph. The diesel may do 10mpg more but of course petrol is slightly cheaper so that is reduced. Finally, the petrol (at least in the UK Wattie) is holding value better so I think you’d gain back any fuel saving in a higher residual. Therefore, why choose the oil burner when that’s not the best of the range.

The diesel isn’t a consideration at all, I only drove it as is was local and felt it would give me a feel for the car.
It was pretty quick, so much so it ran out of revs (if you know what I mean), but had no “Maserati Character”. I honestly couldn’t hear much even with “Sport” pressed- which was disappointing as I thought they’d engineered some noise.
Overall I was underwhelmed with the diesel, nowhere near as special as my old XFS felt, but to be fair it wasn’t specced that highly.
Sellers gone awol (again). She tends to do this from my previous interactions. We’ll see.

Maybe, the car will come with her ex husbands testicles hanging from the rear view.

Wattie, I absolutely love my Ghibli (it's an S) and I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

I've had a GranSport and a GranTurismo (4.2) before this, and all three have stolen my heart. The GranSport was full of theatre, the GranTurismo was full of luxury and elegance, and for me the Ghibli combines the two. It sounds great, looks great, and I love it. It's a real Jekyll and Hyde character. In my view, there's no (dignified) current sports saloon with the qualities of the Ghibli. It's the gentleman's choice for somebody looking for a daily driver (which mine is - if I were choosing something to store in the garage for the weekend, I'd love a GT Sport ... and a GS MC Victory!).

I've driven the diesel too. It's not to be sniffed at, but you're right - it just doesn't have that Maz edge to it ...

Good luck!
