There is some debate on throttle response with Sport button pushed on a 3 pedal car. Some say there is no difference, but I have noticed a difference especially on heel/toe downshifts with the blips being more responsive in Sport mode.
My US spec 2003 Spyder has the perforated shield under the cats.

No. You don't even have to do it if you are going somewhere. The system primes when you open the door. If you can start, engage gear and be trying to move before it catches up from the pressure loss, you're a far faster man than I.....

It does need pressure to throw the clutch before starting but you are right. Especially as it primes when you unlock it too.

Does it need to open the clutch if it's in neutral? I know the clutch closes if you sit long enough at the lights?
