I wanted to put new shocks in my car so priced Maserati shocks and find them expensive, then my ebay search also indicated:
1964 - 1967 Pontiac LeMans and Tempest Front & Rear Performance Shocks hot rod
eBay item number: 312631046593
Fit in 2004 Maserati Coupe 4200 front and rear shocks and the front and rear set of 4 only sells for about $280
85074
I wonder if anyone here actually used above shocks and could confirm if they fit or not.
Also like to hear from those actually replaced shocks about difficulty and how to do

If they look like that they won't fit unless your putting some leaf springs on the car too.

If a shock kit from a 1960s American car fitted, it would be by far and away to most unlikely cross reference anyone has ever found.

If the pictures are accurate then I think they won’t fit, top mounts, bottom mounts, overall length all look wrong.

As for the difficultly of replacing the shocks, they aren’t especially difficult in comparison to any other car, the rear top mounts are difficult to get to, but it’s ok if your arms are long.

Seems more likely they fit a Mexico 4200 or Indy 4200 and someone has mistaken that for the 4200 coupe.

On his ebay listing the seller indicated that it fit:

2004MaseratiCoupeCambiocorsa Coupe 2-Door4.2L 4244CC V8 GAS DOHC Naturally Aspirated
2004MaseratiCoupeGT Coupe 2-Door4.2L 4244CC V8 GAS DOHC Naturally Aspirated
I emailed him asking if he know anyone actually fitted them in a Maserati.

Aside from above are there any other brand of shocks available that can be used in Maserati 4200?????????????
And how could I find which version of Maserati shocks are already in my car? the really expensive sport version or the
expensive regular?
I changed shocks on my other cars before, so I could do all 4 myself, the only issue left at this time is cost of shocks,
see a lot of used 4200 shocks for sale on ebay, very unusual to see many used, as they could be as bad as the old
that is taken out.

The regular shocks of the 4200 are yellow. The electronic ones are silver/black and will have wires dangling above them on the front strut towers.

If its not a GranSport, a conventional shock will have a “PWR” button in place of the “Sport”. GS have it marked as “Sport” regardless.

Not a massive surprise to be honest. Would have been something if they did fit.

Ah I was right you would have to get rid of your coil springs and put leaf ones on.
Would certainly make forum track days interesting with a few more spins than normal :)

Personally, I think KW are the way forward;

Top build quality, and you could probably sell your old shocks on ebay for maybe £500.

I'm planning to install KW's on my 3200 and sell my factory adjustable suspension components to recoup much of the cost. One suspension actuator on ebay is £300 +. Then you have the ECU to sell too. The electronically adjustable stuff if pretty old hat and dates from the mid 90's. I'm betting the KW kit is a better all round solution.

I am working on finding someone who can refurbish Skyhook shock absorbers in the UK.

I like the idea of adjustable coilovers but the practicality seems like opening a big can of worms; getting the set up correct and comfortable if you use the car for touring... It's not just the outlay on the shocks but installation, set up, alignment... Going back for alignment when the springs settle and then back again if you do not like the set up on rough roads.

Skyhook can be improved upon in a way more economical manner than ditching the entire system - I have my car set up very sweet for fast road driving

A lot of suspensions set ups can work if set up correctly... not much will keep up with the Corvette ZR1 around a track. :)

Found my car has skyhook suspension so even KW cost less, I wonder if anyone here actually installed this :

KW Coilover Kit V3 for Maserati 4200 GT (M 138 AB); Coupe GT and Cambiocorsa (35243002)

Yes there are 3 or 4 people at least on here who have installed them.

I sure like to contact them, it also seem to me the skyhook shocks should have a controller somewhere in the car and per installing KW, one must disable that controller and the SPORT mode on/off button on the console, also I am curious to know if that causes the main ECU issuing
some sort of error.
As for the $3000 price of KW, I hope a sale soon!

As @CatmanV2 suggested there is a bypass plug for CC cars. If you are fortunate enough to have a manual then you can switch the SPORTS mode off entirely by using a SD2/3 conbined with dealer level software to re-flash the ECU

Thank you, I got confirmation from local dealer that standard shocks can be used to replace the skyhook and I most likely will do that
as it's the least expensive way to replace old shocks in a 17 years old car. Not looking forward to new surprises installing KW Coilover.
As entirely switch off the SPORTS mode, no worries at this time.Either I find the bypass or utilize my local dealer SD2/3.
