Hi All,

Another lovely 4200 has come across our desks at Trade Classics.

For peace of mind, we can confirm he gearbox has had its F1 hydraulic pump replaced and the clutch was recorded at under 20% wear during a recent inspection. It has also been subject to a recent service and MOT.

Hopefully it finds a good home as it looks like a very decent example. I hate to say it, but much nicer condition than mine was (though I preferred the green of mine!)

Love the colour combo... As a teenager I lusted after a similar colour scheme on an E46 M3

Yes, the colour scheme reminds me of an E-Type I was lucky enough to have access to a few years back - Jaguar's Opalescent Gunmetal over oxblood. Gorgeous!

Similar to my Jaguar Mark 2 - Opalescent Silver Grey over Red - Timeless and classic

I do like the original front end of the early 4200; some may disagree, but I think it is improving with age when compared to more modern offerings with all their sharp edges, ducts and pretend aero/carbon.

I have a facelift 4200 and I am starting to agree the pre-FL is looking better and more in keeping with the 3200 before it. Small changes can on occasion result in big differences.

Whatever your views about old cars in general, you must admit the classic Maser 3200 and 4200 are in a class of there own!82125

Very similar to my Vanquish colours. You can see the “Iron Ore” burgundy interior as AML call it82133 in this photo

When the cars are new, everyone wants the latest facelift.
But when time goes by it is always the first purest generation, as the original designer sketches, that become the most desirable.
After all, facelifts are only a means of maintaining sales so customers can show that they have a 'new car'.

I was under the impression that the facelift car had significant improvements to the transmission and suspension?

I'm pretty sure the Facelift had a different gear change, which was less harsh but slower.
Don't think there was any other differences. Was there?

Only software tweaks no new hardware

For example, the facelift 4200 skyhook ECU supersedes that of the pre-facelift... You can buy one from a breaker and fit it into a pre-facelift no problem. But a GS skyhook ECU is not compatible with a 4200
