Fantastic original Ghibli II ABS

62686

I bought this car to keep, and spent a lot time, effort and money trying to get it just right.
It has cost me in excess of 45k euros.
It is now is fantastic condition.
Having been used as a daily driver in the past year all little problems or niggles have been ironed out.
Unfortunately a growing family and limited garage space means that I must let it go.

62687

The vehicle underwent a full restoration in 2018, which included
-Rust proofing
-Full respray in the original colour (proper bare metal respray with full glass removal)
-Full suspension rebuild
-Engine replacement
-Steering rack rebuild
-Cooling system rebuild
-Interior upholstery
-Installation or GT rear subframe and differential
-New fuel and brake lines
-New stainless exhaust and cats

Photos and full details of the rebuild are available upon request.

The car is equipped with
  • Koni adjustable suspension
  • Tinted windows
-Full alarm and immobiliser
-Ball bearing turbos

The car will come with a spare set of alloy wheels, parts and a full RP-Lab pc diagnostic system.

The mileage is currently at 176,000 km
Obviously I welcome any inspection.
Price: € 31,000 (negotiable)

That's just beautiful ........................This is the car that got me 'into' Maserati's in the first place. I came across a RM one with Cup alloys in a car park in Dorset, I must of stayed there for about 10 minutes walking around it admiring every angle and peering in through the glass! Such a shame you have to part with her after all the work you have put into it!

Stunning car. But after that level of investment you really should try to keep it.

Here in the UK, a right hand drive version of that age of Ghibli, with that mileage, would be GBP 7,000 to 15,000 depending on condition. A left hand drive version would obviously be a bit less desirable and therefore cheaper. So if you do have to sell, definitely look to sell it in Germany, the Netherlands or Italy, where it should be worth considerably more.

This looks to be competitively 'priced' (estimated)...

Wiki suggests only 50-odd ever made. Presuming both LHD and RHD trim, I'd think that would put this car into the single figures realm for RHD variant?

Decent performance numbers for a mid 90's sports car!

There were 24 UK RHD Cups, of which I believe 22 still exist. A properly maintained and presented original version, with low miles, is now around the £50k mark (very approximately). Peaked at maybe £60k a year or so back.

But the one at auction is anything but properly maintained or original. Very hard to value (hence for sale at auction), and virtually impossible to revert back to original spec due to lack of parts availability (let alone cost).

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I do love the car and would like to keep it, but I will not have the time to use and storing it properly is too expensive so it will slowly degrade if I don't sell which I consider a shame.

As Ewan says the one at auction is a bit of a bitsa but at the reserve is still on the low end for a Cup. It will never entice the purists but probably the cheapest way in.
