Following the SM Motorbike thread, I've got my butt into gear and am getting round to selling my 1974 Kawasaki H1E. The missus is over the moon!

This is last of the full power triples before they were de-tuned.

It was originally a US bike and was imported to this country a few years ago, the odometer reads 18k which I imagine is genuine but have no way of knowing.

Over the last three years between me and the previous owner the following has been done:

Tank and rear bodywork have been repainted, various bits re-chromed, engine rebuilt with new crank seals, oil system rebuilt. Carbs rebuilt. Wheels re-spoked. Front forks rebuilt. Seat recovered.

Hagon shocks on the back, euro spec bars and a GPZ500 caliper on the front, originals will come with it but the standard front disc is worse than the drum the earlier bikes had.

On it's original exhausts which are good, with the original inserts, rare as rocking horse do-do.

MOT and tax exempt.

It's a tidy, lovely looking bike but not concours, and a talking point wherever it goes.

It's the best riding Kawasaki triple I've been on, goes really well, stops really well and sounds like a proper grand prix bike.

SOLD

Some parts re chromed
I bought a pair of e type front bumpers that were straight but rough , they make decent money in good nick so I thought I'll get them chromed

Only slightly gobsmacked at the £560+ vat estimate

Properly envious of the bike , I had a RD400 on a T reg in 86-87 , I couldn't give it away, nobody wanted 10 year old 2 strokes , I took the only offer I got

A friend of a friend fitted a burglar alarm to my house for it

It's worth 5k now :(

Them triple two stroke Kawasakis still look great.
In the late 70s when my 17th birthday was approaching all my mates wanted an Yam RD250(the air cooled variety as the water cooled version wasn't out then) but I wanted an S1, I located one a mechanic was selling in Enfield Kawasaki Centre in Savoy Parade, it was immaculate in a lovely blue colour, it had been in a prang at some point as the front end was off a KH250 so it had a disc rather than a drum brake, I had it for 3 months before I took a bend too fast and came a cropper, sold it cheap and by this time I had passed my test and set my heart on a British four stroke triple.
Here's me in the foreground. I was one of those along with most of mates thought carting a camera around was a total inconvenience not to mention when I did get the photos back from the chemist about only 3 had come out, shame really as these are the times I would've liked to see more photos.

Wow she's a Stunner.
Had fun with a KH 250 back in the day.
Used to love the ride outs with mates to country pubs.
Had a Suzuki Kettle for a while smoky old thing.
All worth good money today.

A crystal ball would have been a good thing to have owned. I bought a Brough Superior for £600 back in 1977 and ended up swapping it for a Ducati. The Brough is now worth £60K.

I was watching a bit of antiques roadshow yesterday  and there was a piece of late 70s art on there. The bloke was saying their going up in price and it’s the 40 year rule. When things get to 40 years old people who remember them from their younger years now have the money to buy them so they shoot up in value.

Spot on, that's why I'm about to sell my classic Hi-Fi turntable and arm assembly.

Excellent news. Now I know what to do with a problematic son who has his 40th this year!
Doubt it will recoup monies spent on him until now though.

A couple more years and my Technics SL7 will be 40 as well! Crikey! I know turntables are a metaphore for a former age, but this one is still space age to me. You can play LPs holding it upside down, or hanging it on a wall! Still get a thrill watching the linear arm do it's thang.

Can't believe I just typed LP....!

If it makes you feel better, I took £20 for a non-running RD350F2 around 2001 I guess.

When I had the RD400 a guy round the corner was having a fence replaced , , his whole garden was open to view , I saw some RD exhausts that were better than mine , I knocked on and asked if they were for sale , no but the whole bike is £50
I only wanted the exhausts so left it where it was

A mate pushed a genuine escort Mexico to the scrappers because it was too rusty to be repaired

That's too rusty by 1980s prices , not too rusty by 21st century prices where they rebuild if from a chassis rail and a wing :D
