Lesson learned when my battery died in Marylebone after I ignored for an hour the signs that my alternator was toast. I had just managed to get off the flyover otherwise I would have been top of Sally traffic's bill that morning.

After coming to a stop and before switching off the engine ensure you disengage the parking brake by pressing park off and leave the car in Neutral rather than P (assuming you are on the flat). And don't leave your key in the ignition.

Once your engine stops, and it automatically engages the parking brake with the last few available electrons (as there will always be just enough to screw you) and you foolishly leave it in Park, getting it on to a flat bed is one huge ball ache.

The parking brake is on, Park is engaged and you can't extract the key. Unwiinding the parking brake manually disengaging the gears and removing your key require in depth rereading of the manual! Resetting the parking brake necessicates a visit to someone with a SD3 to wind it up again.

Ask me how I know!

Oh and don't consider a recon alternator! (I listened)

I’m in Leeds. That’s a very kind offer- if you are nearby I’d be very happy to take you up on it!

Car was rolling in traffic and the audible beep and warning lights started, I drove on as bar the lack of traction control all seemed ok. I parked up to drop my son off, having not engaged the EPB, and then when I went to restart the car the EPB appeared to be locked up.
Disconnected the battery to clear the codes, went to start up and the same issue. That was before I rang the AA.
The faults now appear to have cleared themselves, no issues this morning (it’s a second car only used when my wife’s car isn’t available).
Booked in with Enso Automotive in Wetherby next week (closest place to me, that I’ve been recommended by some Ferrari owning folk) for investigation and potentially a replacement ABS sensor. Will let you know what they say!
Cotswolds. Too far. Does sound like sensors

Three days of the QPV standing in the wind and rain in the Lake District and this morning I got the whole gamut of EPB, MSR, ABS, suspension warnings as well as a less common 'check engine'. Drove for a few miles to lunch and then back to holiday home. We shall see if we have a trouble-free trip back to Glos tomorrow or will the RAC have to bring me a new battery, or will I need a wheel bearing?

The EPB was being a bit sticky and clunky over the preceding week or so, and I wonder if that was presaging where we are now, or unrelated.

I wonder if I should do @Ebenezer 's thing of putting it in N, not P...

Mark, fixing a poor performing battery, as Matt indicates, will certainly buy you time. However, low voltage will highlight a bearing accelerometer on the way out. Anticipate a bearing change coming up.
The earliest indication of poor battery is the 'graceful degradation of non-essential functions'. The first of which is window detent. If you haven't that, then a bearing. Unfortunately diagnostics won't identify which axle until it's a hard failure.

If you can get it trailered to Autoshield Maserati in Manchester they will sort it for you. I hsve not heard of the specialist you mention in Wetherby. I can recommend Autoshield.

Pop over to Bampton Mark, we are here for another week... who would have guessed my nearest Maser owner is also in the Lakes at the same time as me.

Our car is also at the garage so we have some chappy Ford turd to buzz about in for a few days.

The original post that you refer to was back in July so suspect they are sorted.
Todays post restate to a different car and different geographical area.

Apologies all I never came back to update the thread! It was indeed the dreaded wheel bearing. All sorted alongside a major service by Prestige Autoworks. Best bit was they came to me and so I didn’t have faff about getting the car transported anywhere!

That is a bit remarkable that @safrane and @MarkMas live 6 miles apart and are currently on holiday 15 miles apart (30 miles by road) 200 miles away.

Peter, would you like to pop round to Windermere and, ahem, tighten my battery terminals?

More seriously, will you be visiting Lowther Castle? Perhaps you know it? We first saw it when it was a complete shambles, but now it's a pretty neat attraction.

We were at Lowther yesterday... just 10 mins from the farm, Carhullan on Bampton fell.

If you are going to Lowther let me know and we can meet up for a dog walk and a glass of wine at the punchbowl

Good idea, but we are already on the way home. Managing OK without ASR, MSP, etc

Glad you made it back.

We are still in the Ford van thing as we are still waiting on parts from the manufacturer... Still we can't drive anywhere in it due to sheet ice along the farm track for 2 miles...I miss my winter tyres and 4x4. 110594110595
