100000 Mile Levante 3.0S to buy or not to buy

Quite possibly. When I looked I didn’t look at fuel type, so could have been looking at diesels. Though bare in mind many of the Rangies started at over £100k, while most Levantes were noticeably less. So the Rangie has further to fall, and indeed, perhaps unlike the Levante, will be at just a few grand at 20 years old (approx).

Yes good point in starting price. I see there are Levante diesels with higher miles for sale for 24k so nearly dropped to 20k now.

if you like it and prepared to keep it go for it , all people are advising that if you plan on getting rid of it after couple of years you may have some problems moving it on
It defo does boil down to this… appreciate it! Not buying it looking to sell in a years time or anything. Gonna buy keep and look after and some subtle detailing and interior mods. Make it stand up with the other marques out there.

Thanks for the posts people, I suppose I’m gonna bite the bullit and try and drive the owner down on the price. I can’t even get an extended warrenty as mileage over their threshold :( I’ll keep you all posted on what happens next..

Don't you all have like some moors or lochs or cliffs or something where all the blown LR/RRs get pushed off...?

It's a £26k-£27k car IMO.

My advice: Bid him the lower number which he will baulk at and refuse. Give him your contact details and walk away - if there's a decent deal to be done he will call you. Might take a few days....

This is perfect advice. If he will not come closer to 25k I think I would walk away. 27k as MAF has said feels like the max you should pay but I’ve not seen the car and your heart may make the decision in the end rather than your head. As a minimum though make sure he comes under 30k.

Have you HPI checked it

There was a guy on here advertising a service that checked databases for cars that weren't on the HPI register, I'd be looking for that

If you're the kind of person that keeps a car for years, will just write a cheque if it breaks and can get it for the right money then it really doesn't matter how many miles it's done

But if you're the kind that gets a bill and wants rid it'll be a hard sell

Buyers are always concerned what a wrap is hiding, I'd want pictures of them wrapping it to pass on to show there's nothing to hide

Just my personal opinion

This looks fantastic

I really don't like the wrap, it's like it's taken all the prestige away

The old adage is to buy the best you can afford. If this one is genuinely the best you can afford, fine. But I doubt it is. I suspect there are considerably better ones out there for very little more.

Hey Ewan, I hear yaa but still not many S models out there for £32k I mean there is another with sytner but when I rang them they said they were taking a deposit on the car. I want something a little different. My Ghibli is the same colour so didn’t want blue again. Then the next s model is in white at £39k. I know there are better ones out there just not in my budget..

So, spoke with the chap today, he’s a ruff cookie, he said it’s the cheapest S out there and he’s not wrong. Maybe I’m just deluded.. however I gave him my offer of £26500 and he **** right refused stating that he’d already spent over £5k getting the bits done in it, and also offering the Donor leather, which I must state is near new. Anyway I left him with that offer. Gonna play the long game for now and see what happens as per others posts

Hey, yes HPI clear, I’ve just searched but cannot find the thread on the HPI one you’ve stated above. I know the black one looks smart but I have a Ghibli V6 petrol untouched and just want something different. Not bling different but just different.

You’ve taken the right approach in my view. Don’t be dazzled by the seller’s patter - what he’s spent is irrelevant, it doesn’t make the car worth any more; in fact it might make it worth less and certainly reduces his potential pool of buyers as many wouldn’t touch a modified car. The new interior isn’t really worth anything. Let him keep it if it’s a deal breaker - how many people are looking for a Levante interior? Probably none!
It’s the cheapest S for a reason - it’s done way more miles than any other! The price doesn’t reflect the mileage difference IMO.

Leave your deal on the table and keep looking. My money says you’ll find another car in budget before he finds another buyer at the price he wants.

Please don't let color drive (ugh; pun alert...unintended) the decision. And if you like wraps...then the color is immaterial.

Also, I hate wraps. Please refer to relevant thread, wherein I also state that I don't want to drive around in a car with vinyl paint jobs any more than I want vinyl seats...

Good shout. Let him sit on it for a while as I really do not think he will sell at 30 plus K with 100k in the clock. He may have spend 5k but you do not get your money back at sale time. Excuse my ignorance but what is Donor leather ?
