Check the history with the Dealership he got it from and if you can do some work yourself could be cheap entry into a GT.

They are getting really cheap. Ok, it's not the tidiest and has covered a few miles but they will be in the teens soon and it doesn't say that it's on the register either

Exactly,I think Athol said if they get under 20 he is having one as a daily....

Hmm. There is no such thing as a cheap Maserati. They sure can be cheap to buy, but some of the bits can sting quite a lot.....

I agree, however it stands to reason that all those MC Shifts for sale with @ circa £40k all close to clutch, hence so many available....

Hmm. From experience when you put it in for a check and they call wth £2k of work, that stings a bit.

It's worth every bloody penny, but there are definitely some issues using a GT as a daily. Apart form anything else it's bloody huge :)

Would not change it for the world, unless it's an MC shift :)

If a specialist health check didn’t turn up anything major, that is a LOT of car for the money. Especially when you compare it to the one or two sheds, that have been advertised recently for between two and six or seven thousand more. I plan to hang onto mine for the long term, but it'd be nice if values bottomed out sometime soon :)

Dread to think what he was given in PX for it.

May look cheap but if its such a good proposition why is this dealer shifting it on as Trade?

Saw that ad well Pete. Looks cheap but needs work and 80k on the clock....Would need a very get indipendant check before going into it.

Inspection needed for sure, You could easily have to spend another 8-10k on this car to get it sorted.

That plate is on a red Ghibli S now so stuck with the brand. From memory both cars are ex ADG so that's a possibility as to the call to make. If it is then strange that they did not retail it but it must be miles I guess.

I presume we will now enter a phase where most cars get leggy and tired and values drop like this and others that are rarely used hold relatively high prices; i.e. into 4200/GS differential pricing depending on miles.

My GTS is now over 40,000 miles so is probably past the point of preserving it's value. I am as well continuing to drive it over the next few years and accept that it's value at 70/80,000 miles is not a lot.

Part of the value drop might be the fact that the design is now beginning to look old. I still like it and it gets very positive comments but I do wonder if the GranTurismo shape will age less well than, say, a DB9? Not sure about this but it's worth asking.

I think you have hit the nail on the head, lot of cars not moving, Maserati haven't made anything for "normal" followers to aspire too, so I think people are trading and moving on...

I'm pricing up a clutch, flywheel and release bearing now and it's truly eye watering. Surprising how little info I've managed to find online regards this almost feels as if people are embarrassed to say the full cost which for all that is £3.5k of anyone money.
Hence there may be owners that just never realised this was coming

Perhaps - It amazes me though that in certain quarters they are still punting them out at top money knowing the poor sod perhaps buying is facing a big bill, It's immoral and greedy.

Shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone that has done any research at all, though

It's the ugly face of the motor trade. For every DickyG, Nareman, ADG there'll be several Honest Johns. Unfortunately sometimes the good guys suffer as a result. That said, the onus should remain with the buyer to do at least some research ahead of time. It can't be over stated how valuable the forum knowledge base is in that regard.

I could find that much other than mentions of around £2.5k for a clutch, which is true £1500 parts and 9 hours labour. But realising it's the sensible thing to do to replace the flywheel and release Bearing also adding another grand was few and far between. I'll be doing the lot and was aware of costs from months of research. But bet there'll be plenty 2nd and 3rd owners didn't have a clue.
