    TEMPERATURE GUAGE OUT OF POSITION

UPDATE: Seems that every time I start the car and bring it up to temperature and then let it cool down, the needle does not return to the original cold position. It is in effect moving clockwise bit by bit- Once it reaches its proper position, I am going to disconnect the battery and see if it...

    TEMPERATURE GUAGE OUT OF POSITION

Yes, I'm sure that is the situation, I don't drive it a lot, and it has some other quirks- sometimes the trunk release button quits working and then will correct itself. I'm sure if I take it and my wallet to a dealer they could re-set it. For now I just put a little piece of tape on the lense...

    TEMPERATURE GUAGE OUT OF POSITION

Thanks, I have tried the battery reset and also the dashboard reset, but no luck. Anyone want to swap this car for a running Healey 100-4 or an XK120 project?

    TEMPERATURE GUAGE OUT OF POSITION

2013 Gran Tourismo- Car sat for 3 months and battery went dead. Charged battery and started up fine HOWEVER the temperature gauge needle is now pointing to the left toward the tachometer. When I let the car run, the needle moves counterclockwise the proper amount and the car is not...

    LOW BUDGET STARTER REPAIR

Yeah, you have to check your windings for sure- the housings with windings are available as spare parts from DENSO too, but if you can get a rebuilt unit complete for 150.00, that's the way to go.

    LOW BUDGET STARTER REPAIR

Here is a picture of the miracle wrench Yeah, there used to be a lot of these guys around, but they disappeared mostly due to the entire rebuild industry being shipped off to China. Nowadays you can buy an off the shelf rebuilt starter or alternator for mass produced cars for less than a local...

    LOW BUDGET STARTER REPAIR

Yep- works fine- I didn't want to snoop at the rebuild guy's shop, but I think he was on the page for Mitsubishi parts. Basically the Maserati starter is an off the shelf model, the only thing unique to it is the reduction housing that bolts to the Maserati bell housing.

    LOW BUDGET STARTER REPAIR

Well, here goes another nightmare story for the white glove OEM crowd. Starter on my 2013 Gran Tourismo was intermittent- would work fine for a while then whenever I was away from home it would quit. After 1 tow truck expense back home I lifted it up enough to crawl under and find the location...

Home style solutions to brakes and parking brake on 2013 Gran Tourismo

Bought a 2013 Grantourismo and it had the " Go to dealer and bring life savings" light on the dash board. Needed brake pads, rotors and the park brake was not working. Removed the rotors and turned them on my lathe- a lot of experts said that's a no-no, but the key is the center hub which is...

    SEAT BACK LEVERS

Anyone know if those plastic levers to release the seat back on the Gran Tourismo come from another type of car, or is there a better quality replacement.

    AAAARGH- No crank

UPDATE- SOLVED! Turns out the starter solenoid contacts were worn and dirty- managed to get the end plate off and pulled the plunger with contact ring. Contacts are replaceable, but one cannot be changed without pulling the starter, so I cleaned and sanded them all and put it back together. I...

REPLACE STARTER ON 2013 GRAN TOURISMO

Update- managed to get the solenoid end plate off and contacts were pretty worn. Impossible to change one contact without removing starter, so I cleaned and sanded them as well as the plunger ring and it is now working. I will order a new starter and can now drive it to a friend's shop who has...

REPLACE STARTER ON 2013 GRAN TOURISMO

It's an auto- tight quarters, especially lying on your back with little space to work- looks like I need to remove the LH CAT and one bolt appears to be inside the bellhousing- there is a cover to remove to get to it.- the top bolt I cannot see- wondering if there is an access hole in the...

REPLACE STARTER ON 2013 GRAN TOURISMO

Hi- guys on a prior thread I asked about my no-crank situation- was convinced it was an electronic issue. However, went back to old school thinking and jacked the car up, and found I was getting power to the solenoid in the key-crank position. Gave the starter a whack with a hammer and it...

    AAAARGH- No crank

In the right rear of the boot is a panel- opened it up and there was a ground strap bolted to the body with some yellow paint and a wire with a 2 prong plug and nothing to attach it to- maybe the USA cars don't have this tracker device.

    AAAARGH- No crank

Yeah- T-20 which is the Ignition relay has power and ground, but it's not getting the control signal from the ECU when I turn the key- so I'm thinking it has to do with the immobilizer or just a fault in the ECU from changing the battery. Do you know where that box is located?

    AAAARGH- No crank

This is not my daily driver- I bought it as a project car just for something to keep busy. With all the covid stuff, I just don't get out and about as much as before- hate wearing that mask. So I'll just plod along and eventually figure it out. If I come up with any unusual fix I'll post it...

    AAAARGH- No crank

Thanks, I did that- pulled the fuse box out of the way and checked the connections- all good. Probed the cables in a few places and got good voltage. Gonna have to lift it up somehow and check the cable connection on the starter.

    AAAARGH- No crank

Thanks, I did not get those tracker devices with the car, unless they are hidden somewhere. Yes, the only thing that never fails on these cars is the "Go to Dealer " message.
