    ULEZ - a longshot question...

I have a 2005 4200 Spyder that apparently isn't ULEZ compliant. TFL says it needs to be Euro 4 or later so I assume mine is Euro 3? Obvious question - what sort of a job is it to make it compliant? Do I need to sell my house or can I do it in 2 mins with a hammer?

Empty coolant tank after long drive

I noticed a leak of a few blue spots on the garage floor a couple of weeks ago and topped up the coolant. It only needed a tiny top up and after driving 150 miles I checked again and the tank was fine However after a longish drive yesterday I noticed some blue drips on the garage floor this...

4200 Spyder broke down today, day one of 2 week hol. Any ideas why?

Setting off today for the start of a 2 week driving tour of Scotland organised by the UK Maserati club and my 26,000 mile 2005 car stopped on the M1 After 4 hours driving. It’s been a hot day and we’d been crawling but the orange engine light came on, along with a message in red saying ‘Slow...

Where can I get a chrome strip for the ashtray?

I've just realised that following a full valet of my 2005 Spyder, a bit of chrome trim on the ashtray must have disappeared up his vacuum cleaner. I didn't notice at the time but just spotted it - annoying but not life threatening (I hope). Any ideas as to where/how I can get a replacement...

    Wet foot!

A couple of days ago I was driving my 2005 Spyder when my car tipped a tablespoon of water over my left foot. Then today it did the same thing over my wife’s left foot. It’s been hot and the AC has been on. Wondering if this the famous leaking heat exchanger (?) problem. Any ideas on how to...

    Should I buy a warranty...?

I've been offered a warranty (£1,590 for 12 months + extra 2 months free) by WarrantyWise. I attach screenshots showing what's included and what isn't. My car is a mint condition 2005 Spyder with 23,000 miles, serviced by Emblem (Maserati specialists) and the policy covers their labour rates...

Anyone know how the screw works on the F1 reverse lever?

I need to dismantle my F1 control but can’t undo the reverse lever. The screw is completely stuck - a nearby engineering firm couldn’t undo it either. one option is to cut it off & buying a Hill Engineering one (as pic). But need to understand the screw - is it a separate screw that can be...

Repainting central switch plate - got the wrong colour! Advice.

I’ve been dealing with sticky buttons and recently got them back from Carplastix (great job, again). Thought I’d get the aluminium plate resprayed as it was damaged but it's come back slightly (annoyingly) wrong, despite the poor paint guy spending 3 hours trying to get an exact match. In the...

    What a clot - I've lost a tiny part....

I stupidly dismantled the F1 gearbox controller, to repaint some damage to the aluminium paint and then lost a tiny brass spacer/washer that is part of the reversing lever (2005 Spyder). It doesn't look as though I can buy this spacer/washer separately but have to buy the whole unit (67604327 or...

How do I repair paint damage to trim?

I’ve dismantled part of the centre accessories console to send switches off to carplastix (who are excellent) and thought I’d use the opportunity to try and repair the nicks in the surrounding silver metal trim. I think these were caused by someone levering off the reverse gear selector panel...

Newly refurbished 4200/Spyder Tubi exhaust boxes for sale

Newly refurbished by Jason of Jaren Metalworks (Maserati exhaust refurbishment specialist). These back boxes came from my car (which I've returned to original spec exhaust). These sound fantastic. Matched pair, as new. Today these cost £1,888 new from Eurospares. These are for sale for £995 +...

Who to use to do the tracking/alignment on my 4200 Spyder?

Hi, I took my car to Emlem the other day (as a new owner). They were great and there are a number of smaller things to be done to the car. One is the tracking/alignment. They can't do it for a couple of months but we have a great independent tyre and alignment specialist (a real motorsport fan &...

Tubi back boxes - worth repairing & selling?

I've got a matched pair of Tubi back boxes from my 4200 which need some minor repairs (weld on new bolts). I can get this done, get them polished and refurbished for about £250. Is there a demand for these - is it worth doing prior to selling them? Or just sell them or junk them?

2005 Spyder: How do I remove this switch...?

The time has come to send of some bad sticky plastics to carplastix.com. I've the centre console to get the cup holder out but I don't know how to remove the electric roof switch. The cup holder plastic is a bit delicate and this piece seems impossible to replace so really (really) don't want to...

Wanted: Wind Stop box & instructions

Just on the off chance. I'm piecing together a windstop kit (for less than the £725 that someone is asking on eBay!). I've managed to get hold of the screens themselves and I've bought the rubber straps from Scudera but now trying to find the box and a scanned copy of the instructions. I'm...

How do I turn off my Spyder alarm?

When I put my car on the ferry I locked the car with the key - hoping/thinking that the alarm wouldn’t be activated…but found it had been squealing while I was upstairs having my full English. About to do an overnighter boat home - anyone know how I can lock the car without activating the...

Have I killed my car using E10??

I’m driving through Europe and have been filling up using E10. Stupidly I had no idea what it was but just assumed it was a new designation for non premium petrol. Just seen on the BBC that it’s 10% ethanol and rots the fuel systems of older cars. Bother! I‘ve just filled up with the stuff so...

    Simple Spyder question…

Just noticed my newly acquired Spyder is missing the Allen key to close the roof if it fails. It seems to be an 8mm Allen key but Maserati charge £20 for a new one - can‘t find a pic of what it looks like. Is there anything else to it?
