Reading error codes on an early 3200GT

Hi Greg, Okay, I understand. Try this: look for all of the 3-pin plugs that look like they might fit behind that side bit of carpet and make sure you plug into the grey one... Good luck, Steve

Reading error codes on an early 3200GT

Hi Greg, One final thing, there are a number of ISO connectors in the same viscinity. The one you need is grey (or was on my car) and is behind the side carpet to the right of the accelerator - there are at least 2 ISOs there. Once the ignition is on, the V A G led should come on and if you've...

    Obd code reader

Hi Greg, 2 things to try that might have gone wrong: 1. Did you plug the V A G lead in before installing the driver? If so, Vista will have looked for a driver online and won't be using the FTDI one. If this is the case you'll need to uninstall and start again by installing the FTDI driver...

Reading error codes on an early 3200GT

Hi, Looking at your V A G adaptor, it's quite different from the one I use on my car. The important thing is that it must use the FTDI chipset that acts as a converter from USB to RS232, yours might have it but many don't (some use a generic Chinese adaptor) and if it doesn't use that chip the...

    3200 Issues

Unfortunately you can't tell by looking at the outside - if you unscrew the blue cover on the interface you should see that one of the chips is marked FTDI but you might need a magnifying glass. If not, it's probably the Chinese variant. The chip is used to convert your USB port into an RS232...

    3200 Issues

If you buy a *** interface, make sure you get one with the FTDI chipset as it's the only one that'll work. If you contact Sander on the Unidiag Yahoo forum he can send you the correct interface or make sure the eBay seller gives you the right one. Most of the problems people have setting them up...

Manual 2000 3200GT ..where do I find the diagnostic port ?

As Dunnah said above, on a 2000 car it's usually behind the panel to the right of the accelerator pedal. If you have a look at this thread http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/7370-Reading-error-codes-on-an-early-3200GT I went through how I managed to read the codes on my car which was...

    3200 Indicators & alarm

Hi, Have you checked the fuses in the footwell? It might be one of those, I know that fuse 16 is usually related to problems with the vertical accelerometer (which can be fixed with araldite) and that takes out the rear lights amount other things. Hope this helps, Steve

Reading error codes on an early 3200GT

Hi Tim, It looks like your PC is using the wrong driver i.e. not the FTDI driver and that's why you're not seeing the COM port. I recommend removing both drivers, reinstalling only the FTDI one (all without the lead connected) before trying again. Which version of Windows are you using...

    Intermittent CEL

Okay, you've got an EOBD ECU after the engine change then. The V A G lead won't help and you should be able to use your ELM. Although I've had my car since 2006, I haven't ever had a CEL without stored codes so I can't think what could be the problem here. As jluis says above, it could be a...

    Intermittent CEL

Pierre, it sounds to me like you'll need to get a V A G . C O M interface to get this to work. It uses a different handshake protocol amongst other things. Have a look at the guide and get hold of a cable that uses the COM port chips manufactured by FTDI (http://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm)...

    3200 Fault codes help

I've used Unidiag for the past few years without problems. It's invaluable. Also, I've just found the guide to cleaning it. Have a look at: http://www.sportsmaserati.com/showthread.php/1097-DONT-forget-the-trottlePEDAL-potentiometer!!!! Cheers, Steve

    3200 Fault codes help

Hi, P1226 is Accelerator Potentiometer Inconsistency. Worth doing a throttle pedal reset and then either cleaning out the tracks using the guide on here or going for a contactless pedal pot - I think Davy does one on here. Hope this helps, Steve

    Intermittent CEL

Okay have a look at his thread: http://www.sportsmaserati.com/showthread.php/7370-Reading-error-codes-on-an-early-3200GT I think it's possible that the reason you're not seeing any error codes is that your OBD reader isn't compatible with the KKL protocol on the early 3200s (assuming of course...

    Intermittent CEL

I wonder whether the reason you're not seeing any codes is that your code reader isn't compatible with your ECU. Your car might not be EOBD compatible. Does it have an OBD style multi plug or a 3 pin ISO connector? There was also a change over between the ECUs in 2000 that means that there was...

    3200 hot start and fans

Steve, They're in the boot, just above the battery. Off hand I can't remember which ones they are but I can go and look later if you'd like. They're just pretty standard Bosch parts and were about a tender each from memory. Regards, Steve
