    Maserati Coupe 4.2 engine

I have an engine for sale. it is from a rolled 2006 Coupe that had 50 k miles on it. I paid £1850 for it from E bay a couple of years ago. I was going to use it on a project which did not happen. It is good for any 4.2 Maserati that has the dry sump application. Any offers ?.

4200 oil leaking onto manifold front rhs

Definitely a DIY only job, it's just allen headed bolts to do really. Also, a good opportunity to check / change your spark plugs. Give it to a dealer to do and they will have your eyes out. The variator cable is the hardest thing to contend with and it's a piece of p*ss, john.

4200 throttle sticking issues getting worse.... Help !

Yeti, The guy that rebuilds throttle bodies is The Maserati Shed and he replaces the carbon tracks, however, he only does the 3200 which has an Italian throttle body ( I Think ), where as the 4200 has a Bosch unit. I have a good spare 4200 throttle body and pedal potentiometer if you want to...

4200 oil leaking onto manifold front rhs

Mick, I've done both sides of the cam covers on a 4200 and it is a DIY job. You just need some good 5mm allen keys and or socket type allen keys. There is an emissions exhaust bracket thingy and gasket there which is a tad awkward. You have to remove the camshaft variator cable plug and...

    Leak into passenger footwell

Sir, FYI my 2002 4200 Coupe had a water leak into the passenger footwell and I was told all about the air con etc, however, it was a blocked water drain. There are two drain lines either side of the windscreen to drain rain water from the bottom of the screen to the front wheel arches. The...

4200 throttle sticking issues getting worse.... Help !

I took my Maserati 4200 to a specialist dealer, I was told that this dealer had invested in Maserati diagnostic equipment. After plugging her in I was told that the air flow meter could not be read by the ecu. A new AFM has been ordered and she goes back there to be fitted on 24th of this...

4200 throttle sticking issues getting worse.... Help !

Fellow owners please help !. My 4200 is getting worse ( see below ). I've tried 2nd hand throttle body and pedal potentiometer and the problem is exactly the same. Even tried an air flow meter to no avail, again, exactly the same. Funny thing is I cannot replicate the problem when the car is...

    4.2 engine - internal mods?

Gents, I too was toying with the 4.7 litre into a 4200 Coupe idea but I think it's a no no due to all the reasons you have mentioned, wet sump etc. However, if the liners are the same size and it's just the crank stroke that gives you and extra 500 cc then it may be do-able. I have been...

    Wheel bearings

I have changed 4200 wheel bearings I have changed the rears on my 4200 ( I think that 3200's are the same ). On the 4200 the front and rear bearings are the same, I think that the only difference is the length of the ABS cable. ( the front bearings have the splined hub for the drive shaft...

    4200 Coupe Throttle Sticking

My 2002 4200 manual has a niggling issue. When in normal driving the engine revs will not die off when throttle is released. I find myself using the brake pedal to slow the engine and the car down. If I dip the clutch the revs whip up to 2500 to 3500 RPM and stay there for some time...
