    Ghibli Wheel Centre Caps Project

Thanks for your response - Its a 1998 Ghibli GT. Its on its standard wheels, no upgrades or anything on the car anywhere and these caps looks very old so they could well be original ones.

    Ghibli Wheel Centre Caps Project

My car is undergoing various refurb, wheels being part of it, so keen so get a set of these... One question though. The centre caps I currently have are a completely different colour (pic attached) - are they non-genuine or from a different model?

    Last Ghibli mk2

Looks stunning (I would say that given I have a green Ghibli too!!). Amazing how much money can be racked up on main dealer servicing on these cars. I think the mechanicals are pretty solid but so many Italian idiosyncrasies that can suck up time and I already have a job list as long as my arm...

You use an emulator to read from the ECU but that only really gives you the 1's and 0's and an idea of what part of the code the ECU is reading from in real time. From there, its a bit of a guessing game to reverse engineer the code. With 100's of different correction tables on modern ECU's...

The question still remains as to how they do this. For me, I would want to know how the stock ECU I/O is spliced into, what parameters are being adjusted and how the stock ECU reacts to the changes in the long and short term. The reason I say this is that a piggyback can't just add a different...

I spent many years playing with K20's in the back of Elises. Yes, you can get plenty of extra power from a K20 but to do this you need to modify the hardware (very responsive to exhausts, intakes, plenums) and then tune to the extra head room given by the hardware change. Honda world is very...

I'm saying that your engine won't find more power from super unleaded if its been calibrated on 95.

Different ECU's have different hardware and strategies when it come's to seeing and controlling knock. Early knock control sensors were fitted to some sort of resonator that would feed to a knock counter which would trip a hard cut after a certain number of counts. More modern ECU's have far...

    Oh my...GranSport drifting

Nice drifting! We sold a similar car recently to somebody who was planning on building it as a drift car. It was a really nice example too!!

Its worth considering how the ECU would go about correcting for the fuel that's put in the engine. Your engine is dumb to the octane number on fuel but it does know, through the use of the knock sensor, if there is knock. If the engine detects knock it will retard the timing to get rid of it...

Normally some combination of toluene and xylene, but hideously over prices! I pay about £1.80 per litre for toluene buying 200ltr at a time and I'm sure it can be bought much cheaper than that. The octane boosters you buy are like 7-8 quid for 500cl bottle

    Another loss- Sean Edward

Its horribly sad. I was lucky enough to share a racecar with him last year and was massively impressed by his speed and his attitude to his sport and was hoping to be driving with him again this year. He wasn't somebody you expected to have an accident, such was his skill and makes it worse...

There won't be a tangible difference in combustion temps, that's not why you want to run super. Higher octane means = more resistant to knock, thats the bigger gain. To make matters more confusing though the supers that are commonly available don't find the octane in the same ways. These days...

There are some pretty big compromises made in shoe horning that engine in the front of the maser. I can see sorting out the exhaust would take the proverbial cork out for starters. These cars run MAF sensors so, up to a point, the engine will correct itself for the additional airflow.

Running Super will allow some more ignition advance which will likely result in some power. Trouble with using a piggyback to achieve this goal is that you are trying to double bluff the ECU to force it to make sparks when you want it to make sparks. Trouble is, modern ECU's are constantly...

OK, now ask yourself why an engine would misfire? Then, is an engine misfiring a good thing, and is it a problem that you would you normally expect a modern engine, with very precise fuel metering and spark timing to exhibit? If a genuine misfire is occurring then neat fuel would go...

I've seen people remove knock sensors on a few different applications. The Lotus 211 racers have a habit of strapping on tiny SC pulley's and then bolting the knock sensor to the bulkhead and wonder why the pistons shatter. People will do crazy things when they are searching for power!!
