ANYONE EVER DONE ANY SUDDEN CAR AUCTION BUYS?!

I impulse bought a Coupe (4200) on eBay while drunk. Sight unseen from the Welsh coast, with no MOT. It was. a...'brave'* choice. Still, worked out okay but based on the maths from another thread here it cost me about £2/mile over 5 months so not the worst thing I've ever done. *Utterly stupid

    Coupe prices - what's happening?

Ouch! I bought the cheapest in the U.K. in 2019 (£6.2k) - wonder if a cheeky offer might see you buying this one for close to that?!

    Coupe prices - what's happening?

This one on PH auctions has a few cosmetic issues but looks good overall I'd say. I'm interested to see the price it goes for - 30 mins out and it's £3.4k! https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/auction/15807638

    CAR AUCTIONS

Don't forget to add the seller's fee of 9% +£300 "catalogue fee". So 24% + £300 in total. This is obscene in 2023 when all industries are decimating middlemen. Trade Classics buyers fee is 5%+VAT and there's no % sellers fee!

    CAR AUCTIONS

We’re at the stage of the cycle where the investment geniuses can’t admit that they aren’t investment geniuses, so won’t adjust their pricing. That comes in due course, and prices will likely tank as everyone tries to get out at once.

    Coupe prices - what's happening?

I’ll get some more details but based on what’s happening I think your theory that it’s the cheaper ones is most likely. People buying at that price point are more impacted by things like mortgage and energy costs, in my opinion.

    Coupe prices - what's happening?

    1) it’s only back to where it was before the COVID insanity I think. 2) the whole car market is tanking - I’ve had multiple emails from several dealers I’d not had any contact with for a decade, telling me about their new car discounts. I have it on good authority from a friend in the industry...

Accepted - I’ll dig it out and get it packed up tonight. It’s one of those parts that I’d keep to have by me if I still had a Maserati!

The most undervalued classic sports car?

Is that just the buyers premium? They disgustingly also charge the seller a commission. Bonhams charge: “15% on the first £500,000 of the Hammer Price 12% on the excess over £500,001 of the Hammer Price” in addition to a seller fee that used to be nearly 20% but I can no longer find it on...

The most undervalued classic sports car?

Not sure the auctions sites increase overall supply - we don’t pressure anyone to sell, they decide that on their own. We just hope to let people keep more of the money from THEIR car - unlike certain Big traditional auction houses, which take unconscionable 20%-30% fees when you add up what...

    FS: Continental Speed

I’ll stick in another vote for the XF…R. It’s laughably quick, but comfortable and refined when not hustling. My wife adores it, and the only other car she’s ever even tolerated is the Bentley GT Continental convertible, which I think speaks volumes about the XFR. She won’t let me get rid of it...
