    Ghibli horn beeps on startup

Might it be trying to tell you there is a battery on the way out - keyfob maybe, that sort of thing?

    550 Maranello v 612 Scaglietti

This seems good value, or rather cheap depending on your point of view https://autofficina.co.uk/cars/for-sale/ferrari-612-scaglietti-4/ but it's from a recognised place. I gather early 612s are not a patch on the later ones but even so.

CHURCHILL INSURANCE RENEWAL PREMIUM UP 40%

Ewan, Would you mind pm ing your contact at PH. I don't suppose my needs are as complex but it's still a GII house and I'm not very enamoured with the NFU with whom I've insured for years. It's increased by a crazy amount over the last 2 years. Thanks David

QP 3.8 GTS - common issues?

Evening chap, I assume you have drifted from the 3 pointed star place? I assume you have sold your cls now then? Best of luck in your QP search.

    Thoughts on an R171

That's the only way to tell really, and it's good fun. Of course if you could find a 113k in an slk then that really wouldn't be slow. There are a few conversions out there. Don't fancy an SL? The 350s do without the troublesome ABC suspension that the 500 and 55 have. ABC is good, great even...

    Range Rover advice

My local garage lent me a 60 plate 4.4 tdv8 that another customer had for sale. It lasted precisely 15 miles before stranding me for 7 hours! I know it was just one of those things, could have happened next week, last week, whenever but it does rather put you off!

    Thoughts on an R171

No sorry. I can't say I've really felt the need. Might be a different requirement in something smaller like the slk. Should be plenty on MBClub.co.uk

    Thoughts on an R171

We've had a couple. Currently run a c55, so same engine/box. Yes the box is not the cutting edge in change speed but it is a **** sight smoother at low speed changes than newer ones. I can't say I've really had an issue with it on the move. They have great torque (even more so with our old e55...

    Range Rover advice

They're very cool but I think you might be able to buy a range rover for the cost of a decent one those these days mind.

That is really one of the very best colours for those. Looks in great condition. What's the mileage on it?

    Car shows

It was quite a show wasn't it. I came away thinking I need to make more money! I gather his car collection runs towards £100 million although that GTO is close to half of that. Not a bad house and outbuilding collection either and despite the comprehensive garaging nowhere near adequate. Ten...

Just to say Middlewick House holds it's open day this weekend. Home of one Nick Mason so a few tasty motors to be seen https://middlewickhouseopengarden.com/

    Selling privately

3rd option these days are the auctions. I used the car and classic one and to be fair it was fine. They were easy to deal with and when the inevitable request came to lower the reserve a few hours before the end they were very open, saying it just needs to be £100 so we can legitimately email...

Anyone found a good interesting to drive but still comfortable practical daily?

What about.... I bought a black one to replace the e55 I advertised here. I couldn't find one this colour or I'd have had that. No real loss of space over the 211, silly quick and rides well. Less wafty than the e55 so a better drive. I do miss the old one mind...

    Goodbye Radio 2

I tried Greatest Hits on the way home last night, it turned out to be Simon Mayo's programme. I've not listened to commercial radio for ages but I realised I'd driven half way home, so 10-15mins, and he'd only spoken about 3 sentences the rest was ads, trailers and recorded bumph. Must be a good...

    Goodbye Radio 2

I'm inclined to agree, pretty much the last bastion of safe listening on R2 is Mr Bruce. Where else will you get Santa is a Scotsman? It sounds like Popmaster goes with him too which is interesting. BBC have to move on but inevitably there will be listener casualties, you and I amongst them.

Is it going to be one of those years for famous people dying?

Home grown Cov lad, even went to the free grammar school. I recall his name mentioned when I was growing up. He must have played with my old PE teacher at Coventry. RIP

    Ferrari Brave Pill

If only the 456 was manual.. Then again when I mentioned wanting one a member of staff at the local dealer did rather suck his teeth and recommend against it. Frequent and expensive flyers at his place of work. Even so it's a lovely colour.
