Soft touch remover > Sticky button magic

It's not what it's made for but it does actually work. A fair bit of elbow grease required but gets there in the end. My steering column shroud looks exactly like the 'after' pic above https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353458778650?hash=item524bc8f21a:g:SvgAAOSwsblgGWaA

NEWBIE HOPING TO ACQUIRE 3200, 4200 OR GRANTURISMO

I've been mulling over whether to put my 31k mileage 2005 4200CC up for sale. Got it just over a year ago and nicely settled in to it, expected it to be a keeper at least for a few years. But some unwelcome health issues have landed with me. It was the best example for sale at the time and is...

    Absolute Italia 26/03/22

It's a good venue, next to the Sherburn Aero Club to the east of the town. Financed by a local businessman with an interest in motoring and especially classics, it's still under development but plenty going on. They got a large turn out at the Collecting Cars event I attended a couple of weeks...

Scottish italian car day 29/5/22 @ hopetoun house, queensferry

This JS celebration is being run alongside the BVAC's regular historic vehicle classic road run and show. It attracts a very large entry, an all round good event. Last time I was there they had a RR Merlin engine on a trolley with prop attached and they gave it some revs, great spectacle. If I...

Scottish italian car day 29/5/22 @ hopetoun house, queensferry

Same date as the Italian car & bike gathering at Newby Hall, Ripon, unfortunately. Having been to both in the past I would say Newby is the better venue and attracts a wider range of machinery, but Edinburgh has more to offer than Ripon it has to be said...

    investing in markets for income

The fact that you put a simplistic question like that in a forum suggests a level of ignorance that you need to rectify (pls forgive). I was in that position couple of decades ago, I didn't have the £60k to splash but had a reasonably healthy company pension pot and had just paid off my...

E10 fuel from September - can we use it?

Wondering what T knows about planet saving. Living as I do in a democracy, the downside I have come to understand is that the majority gets its way and the minority has to live with it, providing doesn't infringe fundamental human rights. I'm OK to go with that deal, it's preferable to living...

Sports Cars in Park Newby Hall noted, but some may prefer their Italian Car and Bike event on 29 May. https://www.newbyhall.com/event/italian-cars-bikes/

    Probate and Intestacy

That's sad and on top of grieving you have the deceased financial affairs to have to deal with. I was executor for my late step mother, my father having pre-deceased her. She had bank and savings accounts and shares all over the place as well as her retirement apartment. I employed a solicitor...

How to turn a Coupe into a Spyder?

Well I suppose if one's youth and virility are of an imaginary or aspirational nature then a Spyder might be quite therapeutic. Is a Spyder not an SUV anyway? Sporting? I guess so. Utility? Well it takes two people and a bit of luggage, so ticks that box. Vehicle? Ditto. I've just twigged it. It...

How to turn a Coupe into a Spyder?

Same here. I had my renewal in last month from CKI brokers, an astonishing £1600. J Macinroe moment:eek:. I got the 4200CC 10 months ago and I paid a bit more when I changed the insured car from an Alfa GTV Cup, the uplift was more than I hoped but not seriously bad so just stayed where I was at...

    Bouncing doors

In my case only 30k, but as the particular consequence in my case was especially unusual I wouldn't be worrying about it.

    Bouncing doors

Indeed, an extremely rare failure mode, thought at first to be unique but seemingly I'm not the first, maybe the second.

    Bouncing doors

If it was just the tensioners then not an engine out job. Theory is that the plastic piece(s) broke off, gravity took over and on way to sump got wedged between piston skirt and little crankcase oil spray jets, they broke off, found their way past mesh filter(s) at oil pump and mangled it...

    Bouncing doors

Was advised that the replacement's backing was made of better grade plastic than the original.

    Bouncing doors

Thanks all. Liberal squirting with WD40 seems to have effected an improvement. Window dropping and closure all OK. I could see that the previous owner had the driver's door card off at some point and wondered if there was some hidden history. This is all very minor stuff compared with my...

    Bouncing doors

Sometimes a door won't latch shut properly, just bounces back, a harder slam usually does it but..... Seems to affect the passenger door more than driver's side. Am wondering if this is a mechanical or electrical issue. When the door latches properly the window then loses up so electrics are...

    4200 oil pressure sender removal

Just had mine done at Autoshield, by the non manifold removal method, did it while I waited (special tool deployed). My symptom was pressure fluctuating 4-5 bar, needle swinging about for no good reason when proceeding along at a steady pace at low revs.
