Yep, it’s a limited market but also a very limited supply. If the seller isn’t desperate to sell and someone tells him it’s too expensive, he always has the retort of “Find a cheaper one then”

Primatist decals are present on the first one, zoom in on photograph 8. Yes steering wheel is easily addressed but gear knob not so easy, you’d have to find a standard 6 speed gearknob then use it as a pattern to make one from the correct burr maple as opposed to the usual rosewood or...

This one is a 2 litre so it’s rated at 220bhp, only the non-cat 2.8 18v and all 24v 2 litre cars (no non-cat version) were rated at 250bhp. That particular car is quite unusual in that it’s a later car with the Marcello Gandini styling (often known as a series 2 or a “restyling”) but only has...

Your biggest challenge would be finding a decent bodyshop, I have yet to find one that can do a decent job and I have tried many. If you wanted it done properly it would have to be a bare metal repaint, any bodyshop that values its reputation wouldn’t trust what’s under the existing paint...

were they large like the originals and covered the entire centre of the wheel, hiding the wheelbolts, or were they just small caps to cover the centre bore hole leaving the wheel bolts exposed?

Likely to be a DVLA error, they’re not renowned for accurate records and I know a lot of Biturbo era cars that are registered incorrectly including a Maserati “Quattro”, a “Quadtroporte”, a white Racing (they were only available in black or red) etc etc. only 2 UK Hybrid Cups were built, one...

Yes all of that is correct, I remember now that the suspension was stuck in position 2 and that the filler cap key was snapped. The other thing that concerned me when I saw it was that it was on budget tyres, always an alarm bell for me. As you say, apart from potential bodywork issues there...

No, it was the original engine that blew at about 80000 miles, and was replaced with a brand new Open Cup block. I haven’t heard anything about the suspension being changed but the only Cup specific aspect to the suspension would be the Eibach springs, otherwise the suspension is identical to...

The story goes that the second owner had previously been into modified Japanese cars and had owned a heavily modified Supra beforehand, but then wanted something different. The actual events seem to be lost in the mists of time but as far as I can gather, the second owner considered to car to...

*0202 is one of only 2 UK Cups in Grigio Vulcano (the other is *0185) and has been off the road for a couple of years, last MOT expired in August 2020

Unfortunately Mike is incorrect, there were only two Hybrid Cups built for the UK before the factory agreed to make 25 genuine 2 litre cars for the UK. One of these Hybrid Cups was Blu Spaziale, the other was silver (chassis *0164 and *0165 respectively). Chassis *0165 was written off. The...

Very difficult to know for sure how many QPIVs are left as many were incorrectly described when registered so the DVLA have some odd entries in their records. The light blue car that's coming up for auction is registered as a "Maserati Quadtroporte" so won't appear on any searches for a...

Yes it should have the Ottocilindri badge on the front wing so this appears to be missing. A V6 would have a Seicilindri badge. An Evolution would have either V6 Evoluzione or V8 Evoluzione badge.

Black cam covers aren’t exclusive to the 2.5L, they were also found on various 2.0L models too such as the 420 and some 222s. Black cam covers are usually seen on the more mainstream versions, whereas the more sporty versions tend to have red cam covers such as the 420S/Si, Biturbo S/Si.

I guess it depends on what standard you’re looking for. You’d probably need to spend at least the asking price again to get it running properly and do a very basic bodywork tidy up. If you wanted everything done properly it would probably run to £20k+. Probably worth it on a LHD car as they are...
