It's pretty much my only occupation now. The government is paying me 80% of begger all to do it.

What a difference a month makes. Edited to add a :f8: for Wattie and a link to: https://www.sportsmaserati.com/index.php?threads/are-you-worried-yet.30503/page-184#post-759892

I suppose the question is what did the same map look like 12 months ago? One source I saw said that 25% of all large aircraft flights are cargo. And Forbes says that 80% of cargo normally goes on passenger planes. So I suppose cargo-only flights will go up...

I'm slightly embarrassed by the 'likes' for this. Being incredibly sarcastic is probably not my most admirable character trait TBH.

Supposedly, when the Daily Mail was founded, the owner (Lord Rothermere???), said something like this to he editor "I want the readers to be fearful and angry after reading this at the breakfast table." But I can't find a decent reference to the quote anywhere.

These sorts of tweets must be so helpful. Presumably Boris and Matt are just sitting about doing jigsaw puzzles, and occasionally glancing at Twitter, and then they see this and think, "Wow, Piers is so right, we really should do something about this." Thank you Piers, what would we do without you?

A pedant writes... The indications are that if you have had it and recovered you will have developed a strong level of immunity, so if your body encounters the virus again your body will quickly destroy it, preventing a further outbreak. So you will not be coughing millions of viruses onto other...

Totally agree. Unfortunately it seems to be human nature to seek out and repeat the most negative stories, and the Press panders to this. https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/category/news/world/

There is also a strange £50k profit cap, at which point the company is completely excluded. So a company with annual profit of £49,999 and you are in the scheme, but £50,001 you are out; which, if right, seems like a nasty abrupt cut-off. I would like to think that IoD, FSB etc would be...

    Business advice

Yeah, this is a bit of a pain. I've been paying myself a minimal wage from my little consulting company for years, while taking most of my income as dividends, as his is tax-efficient and entirely ok with HMRC. Occasionally I said to my accountant, "Surely there is some rule about making the...

I do love a parody, a joke, a meme or a laugh - honest. I have a history of 'liking' loads of these things. But I do have an irrepressible urge to step in when it is rooted in a political assertion that is wholly untrue. I will try to rein it in, or move over to the Rant Thread! I have too...
