4200 limping, pedal pot issues

Hi all. Ive searched on here and cant find a solution. My 4200 is going into limp mode more often now, which a throttle learn fixes.
My OBD reader and OBD Fusion app tells me 2 faults, Pedal pot and throttle body codes. they are the original parts.
I tried joining the white and yellow wires on the pedal pot, but i got very strange results, high tickover and fierce response to pedal position, so ive changed the wires back. I think this bodge is just for 3200 could anyone confirm?

Can the wipers in both parts (pedal pot and throttle body) be cleaned and if so, is there a procedure listed here? i cant seem to find one.

The pedal sensor on the 4200 has two outputs that are different voltages so you will cause mayhem by joining them together. The Bosch sensors are not serviceable, and they are sealed so cleaning is unlikely to fix it anyway, the carbon films will be worn, it needs replaced. I do not think the pedal sensors for the 4200 are that expensive so should not be too painful.

Around £130 from memory. Its not worth trying to fudge it.

It does look remarkably similar to an Alfa 156 pedal position sensor. But a quick look suggests that these are no cheaper for a new one. Don’t think this is in the alternative parts thread, but if you want to check, it is stuck to the top of the thread list in the relevant section of the forum.
