Hi Everyone, just put down a deposit on a 2015 Ghibli and collect it on Tuesday... anything to look out for and check over?

Also looking for recommendations of outdoor covers.

Petrol or derv?

There have been reports of cracks in the front suspension turrets... but rare.

Nice colour BTW.

But if it has a microfibre liner and it’s cleaned and dried before covering surely it will be fine?

Not really. Any piece of grit or dust on the paint will get moved back and forth by any movement of the cover.

Another thing that I’ve heard is that if the cars wet or condensation gets under and then the sun comes out it can damage the lacquer. Like Conaero said just leave it outside and wash it when it needs it.

Indeed it happened to my Opel. Cool morning condensation form on the surface then the sun comes out and boils it off. It’s called paint sweat and looks like rust bubbling forming under the paint

I got an fleece lined outdoor cover for the TVR whilst building a new garage. One windy day and it scratched all the high points, unless it’s going to get parked under a starling roost just leave it outside.

Advice taken... I’ll save myself the cover cost and buy it something pretty instead... I think it needs floor mats

I have a set of brand new in the box H&R lowering springs for it if you’re interested. Provided it doesn’t have skyhook, normal suspension cars only.

If it’s a regular 330bhp car, you can remap it to Ghibli S 400bhp easily, the engine is identical the only difference is a map.

Finally, the engine sounds better with the centre silencer replaced with an x pipe. You can get them from the likes of Remus UK, Larini etc or have your local exhaust fabricator do it. Makes a massive difference.

Oh and check for any drips of washer fluid as the headlight washer system is known to fail... and its a challenge to fix.

Thanks... I’ll look at the level in the tank and check for drips after I use them.

Nice car. I had 2 diesel Ghiblis. Only thing that went wrong was the headlamp washer system. A know problem with them. Other than that a lovely car. Well done on your purchase.

Welcome to the merry band. I’d spend your cover on money on a professional detail, paint correction and ceramic coating, if I were you. It’ll look like a new car and the coating will keep it that way for longer.
