The joys of getting on a bit...

Now I’m officially of the SAGA generation I am getting quite used to all the sales and marketing material which bombards my in-box on an almost daily basis it seems, for funeral plans, over 50’s life cover and retirement villages. One plus point though is that I did my car insurance renewal with esure this morning and it was £211 fully comp. Absolute bargain !
It’s a strange old feeling though. Pleased to save some cash but also slightly disconcerted by the thought that it can only be because the underwriters think us ‘oldies’ are all a bit dull....

£211?? That is cheap... must remember to shop around. I'm Saga too but £600 fully comp!

Forgive me for missing it, but I'm struggling to spot the "joys". I see one singular benefit in your post.

I think you are underselling it, I'm sure there are loads.

One of the best for me is confidence born of proven capability.

Oh there are lots of joys to be fair. I don’t regret too much about my younger days but I’m also pretty content with how things are right now. I’m certainly a lot more relaxed generally and appreciative of things that perhaps in previous decades I would have taken for granted. Life begins at 50 don’t you know !

I’m enjoying being in my 50s. Remarried at 52 all kids off our hands now and financially independent. Work if we want to rather than have to. As others have said appreciate things more but tolerate less. The only downside is I have to get up in the night and pee more.

Seriously if you don't pee in once continuous flood, and do have to pee in the night (unless a heavy session the night before), get your prostrate checked!

Yep good advice. But (or perhaps it's good that) BPH is pretty damned common and nothing more than an irritation.
