Remember traction control fully off, which is press and hold for about 9secs.
The funny thing is I wasn’t trying to be funny .......
The only time I have had problem in snow with my XJ or even my wife’s car is when traction has been on and when you need to spin the rear to get traction, the computer applies the brakes and cuts the power and bogs me down, so now, in snow it’s traction off every time.

Love finding old buildings like petrol stations, when we did R66 in the US there were loads some restored for tourists, others just trading as they always had and some just slowly degrading back to their constituent parts81771

Totally agree.
Whilst I greatly miss it and managed a few flights on Concorde it's financial viability was the issue. The US limited it's route options (NIMBYism?). I don't think the state can subsidise something like this, especially as it was incredibly inefficient and noisy beyond today's regulations. Sad though.

I think the main issue was not being allowed to go supersonic over land. You could say it was a US thing but UK government banned it too. There’s a national trust place in Devon or Cornwall had it’s windows broken.

So with a sonic boom, does it occur when the aircraft breaks the sound barrier, or is it constant like a wave of sound as it travels along?

So thats the bit I struggle with...if it passes over me I hear the boom, but why do you not hear the boom that passes over someone else a mile away?... OK it would be delayed, but my little brain is thinking I hear the jet engine approach and dissappear into the distance, but the boom is just once?

Imagine someone is dragging a funnel across the ground over you. Yes you can see the edge of the funnel as it comes towards you, and goes away from you, but it's got a pretty sharply defined edge as it comes over you.

That's what the shockwave looks like. And if you hear a boom, while it is a boom, it's also quite drawn out, like a bloody big explosion.

That's probably not helping
