Yes, based on the background of the under seal pictures.

Looks like it didn’t meet reserve. Final bid of £27454. I love the interior but I expect it might put some potential bidders off.

Now with a 5% buyers premium making it nearly £29k I would have said that was a good sales price and surprised it hasn't made reserve. Maybe the seller was looking for £30k but as an auction buy with no warranty or recourse I would have said that was a good and strong price.

Must have been close to reserve I would imagine. Total more than 29k actually as the fee is 6% with the VAT. You’d be a bit disappointed as the high bidder not winning that.

Reserve may have been the low estimate of 29k, but that would be 30750 with fees, potentially a little close to the dealer cars available (dicky‘s and the white one). Maybe their’s are too cheap now, prices do seem to be ticking up slowly......the other private 2011 black one with the red piping on autotrader seems to have gone too.

Maybe a deal will be done with the auction house, the seller and one of the bidders.

Reserve must be above 30k if it's up for sale on here for 33k. Plus it is advertised for 26k by Tradeclassics on AT which you obviously can't buy the car for and I believe from what others have said this is illegal. Wouldn't bid on this even if I had the pennies and wanted it from this lot with there underhand advertising and I would have it as love the spec on this car.......I would go to Dicky rather than give these underhand cock nostrils my money......

The seller is daft to not accept £29k. Who is going to offer him more? And does a few hundred quid one way or the other really matter?

I agree Ewan. It is good price in the current market or indeed any market. There is no chance of returning more than this IMHO.

Have to agree - if you add on a hagling margin and a warranty you are the price that dealer would charge....thought he did well and surprised he thinks he can do better in this market

To be fair to the seller, who is probably reading this, he has to be given credit for spending 4K prepping the car for sale, to what could well be retail standard, or very close, in terms of condition. Having said that, not sure what it would have fetched needing tyres, brakes, a service and a couple of other bits.

But it is still of course a private sale in the end, and the market has spoken at 29k, which is good, although he gets 27.5k due to fees. Could he have got 29k putting his own autotrader ad up? Who knows, I suspect not.

I feel for anyone selling a Maserati saloon at the moment. Having seen what these cars trade at I would have ripped the buyer's hand off at that price but we are all different and the guy wants a return on the large spend he has made on the car so fair enough.

I can't fault the car or the seller as it is presented and advertised very well. I'm not sure spending £4k then selling as a private sale/auction sale was ideal as you will never see anything like the £4k return. Maybe it would have been better to not spend the £4k and sell £2k cheaper than it sold for. As a retail car with prep/warranty it would make more sense at this price and maybe slightly higher. Like others have said I would have sold quite happily at the price it went for which I think was fair and decent as we speak.

Hi everyone,

I had a sleepless night after reading these messages.
I am to be the new owner having been the highest bidder during the auction and raising my bid slightly after.

I am now worried I have massively overpaid. What would you think was a better price? 27k?

I plan on keeping the car a very long time so it’s not really a big issue, to me it just looked like a really nice spec and well looked after. Conearo also said in one of his posts it wanted for nothing having been serviced and had brakes all round as well as underbody rust treatment. The tyres were recently fitted as well.

I am keen to see what you think as yes, I know I could have paid slightly more and got one from a dealer.
The white was a non starter after how long it has been standing around for and Richard did message me about his black one, and a month ago to mee it was too much money, but maybe it just didn’t pull at my heart in that spec.

One confused and anxious Dom

I wouldn’t be anxious.
Cracking car (with Conaero’s stamp on it) that clearly rocked your boat and you managed to buy it.
Enjoy it!

I wouldn’t worry if we’re you. It’s a lovely car in a nice spec and it’s what you want. If it’s a keeper then price isn’t really an issue, spec and condition is, to me anyway.

The other way to look at this, is that you can sleep well at night knowing this is a well-sorted example - you’re going into this with your eyes open, as opposed to finding out what’s wrong with it post purchase.

Perhaps it is strong money, but what a car - and the second you start driving it, you’ll understand why it commands a premium... what a car!

Prices are based on what the market is willing to pay for it. You think the car is worth as much as you paid so i wouldn't overthink it. Its a nice car and that appealed to you. Look after it and youll be rewarded

Anything is 'worth' what someone will pay for it at a given point in time and you were content to pay what you did, so chill and enjoy the car regardless of other opinions. It looks to be a very nice example of the breed, and if you plan on keeping it for a while what's not to like?
