Hello guys, working under car today and noticed that the oil pipe that comes out of the back of the pump (2003 Spyder 6mt) is hard against the crossmember. There is no space between the pipe and the crossmember. I'm worried that engine movement will wear/ break the pipe or worse, pump ($3000). Is this an indication that my motor mounts need replacing? Thanks for any comments.

Doesn’t sound right, try jack the engine up on the bellhousing and see if there is much movement in the mounts.
Post some photos if you can, do the mounts look perished from underneath?

Thanks, will try to post photos later, having trouble getting the lower heat shields off. Does anyone know if there is enough flex in the mountings (I'm thinking torq tube/ bellhousing) to safely raise engine? Also Scuderia lists 185361 for $133 but must be ordered, and 225839 in stock for $244. The later is for a QP, thoughts?

Someone last year found the inner of his gear box mounting was spongy. Having filled with leaking hydraulic fluid. Think it was the chap with the BF GS - jacked up on a sloping driveway (wince). Not seen him post for a while - maybe the worst happened (wince). I digress. If your engine mounts are spongy it might be worth investigating.

Jack up with block of wood on the bell housing / back of the engine Just to take the weight to check.
Looking at Eurospares only 225839 are available now same as the QP ones.

Yes not seen him on the forum for a while, the Japanese import GS?
Hope he’s ok as the jacking up did look a bit precarious

Thanks, does anyone know if 196865 is a replacement? I checked Scuderia, Ricambi, and Eurospares, any others?

From my experience it's best to check the motor mounts looking at the top of the motor mount with a mirror. There is usually a metal shield surrounding the top of the mount to prevent degradation form heat. If this shield is within 1/8 inch from the frame I would change them out. The drivers side mount seems to take the brunt of wear because of engine rotation. A brand new mount will have a flexible bottom because they are filled with fluid. The older and more used they become, the bottom bulge becomes more pronounced. These mounts seem to last about 5years/40000 mi approx.in my experience.
